David Templeton comes out of retirement as ex Rangers and Hearts star answers Drumchapel United call

He retired in November last year - but David Templeton is set to pull his boots back on for West of Scotland Football League club Drumchapel United.

Formerly of Hearts and Rangers, the winger called time last year after injury problems at Championship club Hamilton.

After starting the campaign in their return to the second tier, Templeton found niggling fitness worries too hard to overcome and called it a day.

He's since been coaching in the South Lanarkshire club's academy but spoke recently of his desire to play at part-time level again.

Drumchapel United have offered him that chance in the WOSFL, after they finished second in Conference C.

It'll be a change in scenery for the youth coach but it's a coup for the Lochburn Park club.

Drumchapel said in a statement: "This man needs no introduction! Welcome to the Drum David Templeton."

The 33-year-old started his career at Stenhousemuir before earning a big move to Hearts, memorably scoring in their 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield almost 10 years ago.

He moved to Rangers shortly after and finished his career with two spells at Accies, sandwiched between a stint down south with Burton Albion.
