David Moyes claims Man City would beat Premier League All-Star team

David Moyes has claimed an all-star Premier League team would not beat Manchester City this season.

Pep Guardiola's team are already back at the top of the table after opening their bid for a hat-trick of titles with a 5-0 win at West Ham .

Jose Mourinho claimed at the weekend that only four teams could win the Premier League – and one of those was “Manchester City's B team”.

But fellow former Manchester United boss has gone further – and said a team including Harry Maguire, Virgil van Dijk and Harry Kane could not beat the reigning champions.

Moyes told talkSPORT: “I was trying to think the other day if you could make a Premier League team up from all the teams that could topple Man City to win the league, and I think it would be very tough.

“Even if you had a team that included all the top players in it.”

Moyes has unsurprisingly picked six Liverpool players in his all-star XI after the Reds were only pipped to the crown by a single point last season.

A quartet of Jurgen Klopp's back five have been included - keeper Alisson, full-backs Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson and van Dijk.

Wingers Mohamed Salah, who has been the Premier League's Golden Boot winner in the last two seasons, and Sadio Mane also represent the Reds.

United's new signing Maguire gets the nod to partner van Dijk, after the former Leicester ace broke the Dutchman's transfer record for a defender.

In midfield, Moyes has selected two-time Premier League winner N'Golo Kante with Paul Pogba and Tottenham star Christian Eriksen.

Spurs and England hot shot Kane would be Moyes' go to striker to lead the line.

Moyes' All-Star team: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Maguire, Van Dijk, Robertson; Kante, Pogba, Eriksen; Salah, Kane, Mane.
