David Moyes claim made as Alexis Sanchez to West Ham transfer link is assessed

Your West Ham United morning digest for Tuesday, April 7.

Moyes agrees to pay cut

West Ham manager David Moyes has agreed to a wage cut as the London club take measures to mitigate the impact of the continued coronavirus lockdown.

Football.London understands Moyes is part of a contingent of senior management figures at the London Stadium who will see their wage cut while most non-playing staff will remain on full pay for the time being.

A number of Premier League clubs have taken the decision to place non-playing staff on the government furlough scheme designed to help businesses through these unprecedented times of crisis.

It is believed the Hammers have a hole of between £60 million and £80 million due to the disruption in cash flow caused by the coronavirus pandemic, but players have yet to agree a pay cut.

Football London have now looked into whether a move would work for the former Arsenal star.

Snodgrass opens up on Moyes

Robert Snodgrass has heaped praise on West Ham manager David Moyes, revealing how his fellow Scot “speaks his language.”

Moyes was appointed manager at the London Stadium in November and has struck up an understanding with Snodgrass who has been impressed by the impact the former Everton, Manchester United and Sunderland boss has made.

“He speaks my language which is good, it’s always a bonus,” Snodgrass told Sky Sports News.

“He came in and he’s been straight with the boys. He said: ‘Imagine you were the fan paying the money to go and watch. That’s the level of work that I want and they need to be seeing it’. That’s exactly the way that we’ve been brought up.”
