David Moyes backed Idrissa Gueye after the midfielder was sent off in the 13th minute for slapping his teammate Michael Keane in Everton’s 1-0 win over Manchester United.
Speaking following their win at Old Trafford on Monday (24 November), the Everton manager said that he was pleased that they were “fighting as it showed me that they cared”.
“If we hadn’t got that fight and resilience like they showed, we never would have got through the rest of the game,” he said.
Everton managed to secure a win secured by Kienan Dewsbury-Hall’s first-half strike. It was the first time they won a game at the Old Trafford in the Premier League since 2013.
