David Fusitu'a absent for Leeds Rhinos again as Rohan Smith tests another player at centre

David Fusitu'a has been left out of Leeds Rhinos' pre-season fixture with Bradford Bulls. The winger was a late withdrawal from last week's game with Leigh due to illness and remains absent from the squad that will host the Bulls at Headingley on Sunday.

Rohan Smith had stated after the game against the Leopards that Fusitu'a would play on Sunday, however, he has missed out once again, with the club stating that he will instead use the weekend to train. A club article stated: "A handful of players will not be involved this week so they can continue their build up to the new season with training over the weekend rather than being involved in game preparation. This includes Zane Tetevano, Justin Sangare, David Fusitu’a, Aidan Sezer, Blake Austin and Kruise Leeming." The winger has in either of the club's first two pre-season outings.

However, both Rhyse Martin and Cameron Smith will start the match, with goal-kicker Martin to play at centre Loose forward Smith has overcome a calf niggle to feature. Rohan Smith is testing a number of players in the position with Nene Macdonald and Harry Newman both currently injured. Papua New Guinea international Martin did play occasionally in the position during the 2022 campaign. Derrell Olpherts will also start at centre.

Morgan Gannon's attempt to learn the halfback position will continue as he partners Richie Myler, with Ash Handley once again being utilised from fullback.
