The player game scores from Pro Football Focus went up considerably in the Detroit Lions second preseason game compared to the opener against the Patriots. Several Lions graded out much better in Houston, including the team’s top rookie.
The top five performers on offense from PFF match the eye test from the game against the Texans:
- QB David Fales
- RB Mark Thompson
- TE T.J. Hockenson
- WR Travis Fulgham
- OG Oday Aboushi
Aboushi overcame an illegal block penalty and still made it to the top five while facing one of his old teams. Seeing two draft picks, Hockenson and Fulgham, in the top five is an encouraging development.
On defense, Darius Slay highlights the top five. The Pro Bowl CB played more than expected, and Slay played well. So did Romeo Okwara, the only other regular contributor on the defense who cracked the top five.
