David de Gea lined up for Cristiano Ronaldo reunion after Man Utd contract expires

David de Gea is a target for Al-Nassr - the club Cristiano Ronaldo plays for in Saudi Arabia.

De Gea's £375,000-a-week contract at Manchester United has expired and it's unclear whether he will sign a new deal. The Spain international, 32, will need to take a pay cut to stay at Old Trafford, as Erik ten Hag is reluctant to give him another hefty salary.

It's believed the United boss is willing to pay De Gea £200,000-a-week, but no more. The goalkeeper is a free agent as renewal talks continue, which has put Al-Nassr on red alert. It's believed the Saudis are willing to offer De Gea a £250,000-a-week deal.

If De Gea joins Al-Nassr, he will get the chance to play alongside Ronaldo again. The Portugal international, 38, joined Al-Nassr January after being released by United two months earlier - becoming Saudi Arabia's biggest football star.

As reported by The Sun, De Gea will have the chance to go to Saudi Arabia if renewal talks with United collapse. It's claimed his preferred choice is to sign a new contract with the Red Devils, but there's no guarantee that will happen.

United are in danger of losing two goalkeepers this summer, with Nottingham Forest after Dean Henderson's signature. De Gea's former understudy, 26, spent last season on loan at the City Ground and is expected to be available for £25million.

Ten Hag has already started looking for a new goalkeeper, although Inter Milan's Andre Onana is not on his transfer shortlist due to his price tag. Inter want £60m for the 27-year-old Cameroon international, who played under Ten Hag at Ajax.

As revealed by Mirror Football, Feyenoord's Justin Bijlow and Eintracht Frankfurt's Kevin Trapp are the two goalkeepers Ten Hag is interested in signing to replace De Gea and Henderson. Feyenoord want £20m for Bijlow, 25, while Trapp, 32, has a £10m price tag.

Al-Nassr are one of four clubs owned by the Public Investment Fund - Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund - and are expected to compete for the Saudi Pro League title next season. They finished second last term, five points behind champions Al-Ittihad.

De Gea has faced criticism from United fans in recent years, but there is no denying he is one of the finest goalkeepers of his generation. He is a two-time Premier League Golden Glove winner and a four-time United Player of the Year.

De Gea has also been named in the PFA Team of the Year five times and won 10 trophies with United and Atletico Madrid - including the Premier League title, European Super Cup and two Europa Leagues. He has played more than 700 senior games.

United posted an update on De Gea's situation on Friday. "De Gea's contract is due to run out but discussions remain open with the long-serving keeper," the club said.
