David Cameron makes Back to the Future Day joke at PMQs, ruins it for us all

David Cameron made a reference to Back to the Future day during Prime Minister’s Questions and ruined it for everyone involved.

In response to a question from Iain Stewart on nuclear deterrent, the Cameron said it was “absolutely right” that Britain maintain Trident and highlighted his disappointment over Jeremy Corbyn's involvement in the CND.

Mr Cameron said: “Frankly it’s today that we’re celebrating that great film Back to the Future and it’s not surprising that many people sitting behind him [Corbyn] will tell him to get in his DeLorean and go back to 1985 and stay there.”

The 21st of October is the day that Back to the Future's Marty McFly time travels to from the 1980s. Twitter has been rife with jokes, with Labour MP and London mayoral candidate Sadiq Khan tweeting: “Don't go #BackToTheFuture with the Tories - I've pledged to freeze fares for flying cars.”

Surrey Police also got in on the action, tweeting: “'Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads!' But 88 in a 30 gets you points & a fine in all timelines.”
