David Beckham singles out Manchester United great for praise

David Beckham singled Paul Scholes out for praise after Manchester United's hammering of Bayern Munich in last weekend's Legends match at Old Trafford.

The pair were both named in Sir Alex Ferguson's starting line-up for the commemorative fixture which ended 5-0 to United.

Scholes didn't get on the scoresheet but United's former No.18 gave a typically cultured performance in central midfield and Beckham was impressed by his old teammate's display.

"It's always nice to be back here, always nice to see the fans that remember back to '99," Beckham told Otro. "It's a special day, a special occasion, it's amazing to see all the lads, there's some lads I haven't seen here for a long, long time.

"When you've played together for so long, you know when they're running, where they're running, especially players like Scholesy, you just know where to give him the ball, as soon as he runs it's easy to hit him."

Beckham scored the fifth and final goal of the match on the stroke of full-time with a neat finish from close range and he admitted that he was struggling with his fitness at that stage in the game.

"My hamstrings were hanging off but apart from that, yeah it was not a bad finish," he added. "Nice way to end the day."

Beckham also spoke to Otro at half-time and when it was suggested to him that he hadn't lost any of his passing or crossing ability, he laughed: "That's my game, you know, that's my game!"
