David Beckham recalls asking for Victoria's number 'after she'd had a few drinks'

David Beckham has revealed the details of his first meeting with Spice Girl Victoria, who was eventually destined to become his wife.

At the beginning though, Becks waited for a moment when he felt she had drank enough alcohol that he felt confident that his advances would not be repelled, as he went to ask for her phone number.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Beckham said that he plucked up the courage to ask for her number and he still has the train ticket on which she wrote her phone number.

The 46-year-old former England captain, who was playing for Manchester United at the time, said: "She came to watch me in a game in London with her manager at the time and one of the other Spice Girls, Sporty Spice."

Asked by Fallon if the then-Victoria Adams was his favourite, a laughing Beckham replied: "She was obviously my favourite, might be a bit awkward if (she) wasn't."

He then told how Victoria travelled to Manchester the following week and they spoke for the first time, and said he still has a memento from the day.

Beckham said: "She'd had a couple of drinks so I decided why not, I'll try and get her number.

"We talked for about an hour in the players' lounge. She actually got the train up that day so she wrote her number down on her train ticket, which I still have."

Meanwhile, Victoria Beckham has delighted her Instagram followers by sharing an adorable throwback video from the early days of her dating husband David.

The couple, who have now been married for over twenty years and share four children together, look absolutely smitten with each other as they struggle to keep apart as they discuss their blossoming romance.

The pair are seen taking part in a jokey Q&A as Victoria asks David when he first realised he was famous.

"Straight away," jokes the footballer.

"It was when he first started going out with me actually," Victoria quips back before collapsing into fits of giggles and throwing her arms around David.

"What made you fall in love with Victoria?" an interviewer can then be heard asking off camera.

David then gave a very honest and romantic response.

"I couldn't put my finger on one thing. It was everything, you know the whole package I just fell in love with it," he gushed.

"I'm not an 'it'!" Victoria cries.

"With you darling, I'm sorry," replies David.
