Dave King goads 'arrogant' Celtic as former Rangers chief singles out fatal 10 In A Row blunder

Dave King claims "arrogant" Celtic treated 10 In A Row as a foregone conclusion.

A rampant Rangers extinguished the Parkhead club's dream of 10 consecutive Premiership crowns as they officially wrestled the trophy away from their rivals at the weekend.

Celtic's goalless draw with Dundee United on Sunday sent the title to Govan but former Ibrox chairman King reckons the early signs were apparent for months.

He accused the club's hierarchy of "hubris" and of failing to take the challenge from Steven Gerrard's champions seriously enough.

King said on STV: ‘’At the beginning of this season, even at the corporate level marketing 10 In A Row, I think they (Celtic) weren’t quiet about it, they were arrogant about it, quite frankly.

“A little bit of hubris crept in there and they actually approached the season as if the 10 was done. They even had shirts out there with 10 In A Row.

“They got ahead of themselves a little bit. Celtic felt that the gap that they had going into this year was enough to see Rangers off for another season.

“They knew we were catching up, but I think they felt ‘we don’t have to make too much of an investment – we’ve got them for one more year’.

“We can do 10 without investing in the squad. I think Celtic underinvested in the squad with the belief that they had enough in the tank to see us off.’’
