Davante Adams says it would be a dream to play with Raiders QB Derek Carr again

The Raiders are set up well to have a ton of cap space during the 2022 and 2023 offseason. They should be able to target multiple high-level veterans who are set to become free agents.

One of those players is none other than All-Pro receiver Davante Adams, who could be leaving the Packers after this season. Adams, of course, is the former teammate of Derek Carr and it appears he would like to play with his former collegiate quarterback once again.

With Carr as his quarterback at Fresno State, Adams put up monster numbers. In his two years in college, Adams totaled 3,031 receiving yards and 38 touchdowns. In 2013, he led the NCAA in receiving touchdowns and Carr led the country in passing yards, passing touchdowns and pass completions.

In a recent interview, Adams stated that he would love to play with Carr once again if it doesn’t work out in Green Bay:

“Obviously, I love Derek to death. We’ve got a great friendship and we still communicate really, really consistently. He’s one of my best friends. Obviously it would be a dream to be able to play with him. But I’m a Packer now. Until that point when we make that decision, I guess we just gotta, we’ll see what happens.”

Adams is coming off the best year of his career as he caught 115 passes for 1,374 yards and a league-high 18 touchdowns. But with the uncertainty at quarterback for the Packers, Adams might want to wait to sign a contract and see what the free-agent market can do for him.

For the Raiders, it’s a no-brainer fit. The team doesn’t have anyone like Adams on their roster and he would fit in well with the current playmakers, including Darren Waller, Henry Ruggs and the running game.

Given his connection with Carr, don’t be surprised if the Raiders do make a serious run at the All-Pro receiver from Fresno State next offseason.
