Daughter calls police on her own mum after shopping trip ends in blazing row

A mum started shouting and swearing after her daughter called police to remove her from her home, a court heard.

Wendy Foster, 51, also had a "physical altercation" with one of the officers during the incident which led to her arrest.

Magistrates at North Staffordshire Justice Centre heard Foster’s daughter called the police to her address in Chell Heath, Stoke-on-Trent, in Staffordshire on October 31.

Prosecutor Sue Hayers said: “This defendant had been shopping with her daughter and subsequently drinking at her daughter’s address.

"There were issues, which led to her daughter calling the police to remove her from the property.

“Mrs Foster appeared to be drunk. She initially did walk away but then reappeared.

"She was using bad language, shouting and slurring her speech. She said to officers, ‘Just f****** lock me up’.

“She leaned against a parked car and when an officer put a hand on Mrs Foster to help her up there was a physical altercation.”

Foster, of Chambers Street, Crewe, pleaded guilty to resisting a police officer and being drunk and disorderly in a public place.

James Hulse, mitigating, said: “She accepts her behaviour was unacceptable. She has an address now, which is positive. This was a low-level incident which lasted a short time.”

Magistrates handed Foster a 12-month conditional discharge, meaning she will not be punished if she stays out of trouble for the next year. She must also pay £157 in court costs and charges.
