Dark smoke fills Tehran sky after Israeli strikes on oil sites

Tehran’s skyline became blanketed by billows of heavy smoke on Sunday (8 March) following Israeli strikes at oil storage facilities and refineries.

According to the IDF, around 20 large oil storage tanks were targeted in the attack on Saturday (7 March), which caused a major fire at the Aqdasieh fuel depot.

Footage shows plumes of dark smoke from the oil facility linger and merge with the cloudy sky over the country’s capital.

The National Iranian Oil Company said a number of oil depots in both Tehran and Alborz provinces were struck and that four of its employees were killed in the blitz.

Shortly after the attacks, Benjamin Netanyahu said his government would continue with their assaults and strike Iran's rulers "without mercy".
