Darius Slayton: Giants and Eagles fans won’t be dining together

If you are drafted by the New York Giants, you learn quickly who your enemies are — the three NFC teams: the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders.

Wide receiver Darius Slayton, in his fourth season with the Giants, knows this as well as anyone in the locker room. This week, Philadelphia comes to town with their 11-1 record trying to stamp out the Giants’ playoff hopes.

Slayton was asked if there was any animosity between the teams.

“I think you learn pretty quick in the division, them, the Commanders and the Cowboys are all archenemies,” he said. “I don’t think Eagles fans and Giants fans are going to be going to dinner together.”

This Sunday, Slayton — who is enjoying a resurgence in his career — will be facing a tough Eagles secondary that includes former teammate James Bradberry and another Pro Bowler in Darius Slay.

“Two veteran corners. They’re smart. They both (have) played football for a long time. They understand their games individually,” he said. “They’re kind of different. Brad is a bit of a bigger, heavier guy, physical. Slay is a little lighter, but he’s got great hips (and) good speed. I think they’ve played well this year.”

This is the first of two meetings between the Giants and Eagles this season, They are scheduled to face off against in the season finale down in Philly. It was mentioned that players have been treated poorly by fans in the past down at Lincoln Financial Field.

“Surprisingly, we haven’t had any of that yet,” Slayton said with a laugh. “So, hopefully we still don’t.”
