Daredevil: Born Again season 2 release date speculation, cast, and everything else we know about the Marvel series

Daredevil: Born Again.

Filming has now officially wrapped on Daredevil: Born Again season 2, which means the Man Without Fear's return to the small screen is closer than ever. As cameras rolled on the streets of New York, we got plenty of behind-the-scenes hints at what we can expect from the new season, from the return of locations from the Netflix show to the addition of fan-favorite comic book characters,

After the action-packed Daredevil: Born Again season 1 ending saw Wilson Fisk tighten his vice-like grip on NYC, Matt Murdock will have to do everything he can to protect his city in the next installment – but not without some help from some familiar faces, including Krysten Ritter's long-awaited return as Jessica Jones.

We've got everything you need to know about Daredevil: Born Again season 2 right here, including the new season's release window, a list of every confirmed cast member so far, and our predictions for the plot. And, while we wait for more from Marvel Phase 6, catch up on the story so far in the MCU with our guide on how to watch the Marvel movies in order.

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is set to be released on Disney Plus in March 2026. This means that the new season will arrive before Spider-Man 4 in July and Avengers: Doomsday in December.

Inevitably, Charlie Cox is returning as Matt Murdock in Daredevil: Born Again season 2 – but who else is back? Vincent D'Onofrio is also part of the Born Again season 2 cast as Mayor Wilson Fisk, along with Wilson Bethel's Bullseye and we'd be shocked if Vanessa actor Ayelet Zurer and Punisher actor Jon Bernthal aren't in the mix too. The same goes for Michael Gandolfini's slimy mayoral official Daniel Blake.

Surprisingly, Elden Henson, who played Foggy before being killed off during the first season's premiere, will also show up in some capacity.

Krysten Ritter is returning as Jessica Jones for the first time since 2019, but that might not be all for the mini-Defenders reunion. Both Iron Fist actor Finn Jones and Luke Cage actor Mike Colter were recently in New York at the same time, leading to speculation that they are filming scenes for Daredevil: Born Again season 2. Plus, fans are convinced Elodie Yung might be back as Elektra after a cryptic Instagram post from the actor.

The only confirmed newcomer to date is Matthew Lillard in an undisclosed role. See the full confirmed cast list below:

  • Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil
  • Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page
  • Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin
  • Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones
  • Wilson Bethel as Benjamin "Dex" Poindexter/Bullseye
  • Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson
  • Matthew Lillard

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 story: how will it follow season 1?

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 has a lot to wrestle with now that the dust has settled on the first season. In the finale alone, there was the revelation that Red Hook was part of Vanessa's grand plans, violent civil unrest on the streets of Hell's Kitchen, and Kingpin declaring martial law in New York. Plus, Karen's back on the scene and Frank Castle is captured (before promptly escaping in the post-credits scene).

The second season, then, will surely revolve around another Daredevil and Kingpin head-to-head. In one corner, The Man Without Fear is setting up creating change from a grassroots level and inspiring New Yorkers to rise up. Kingpin, meanwhile, is set to do all he can to crush any resistance – including any pesky vigilantes (including a new iteration of the White Tiger...) – underfoot.

Director Aaron Moorhead offered some early clues about the upcoming season following the season 1 finale, saying season 2 is a "resistance tale" against Mayor Fisk. "The end of season 1 is a tragedy of some kind. And while it’s not exactly a full-blown stand-up-and-cheer moment as there’s very mixed emotions in those final seconds, you get the sense that there’s a building of a resistance. So that is the kernel of where season 2 is going to go. The board is completely set in which Mayor Fisk has now become Kingpin again, but with New York in his grasp, and then there's this vigilante thing that now has to go completely underground. So that's where we start, and we're going to unfold all of that very, very quickly. It's a resistance tale."

One throughline for the second season is that there will be "nonstop" action, perhaps an indicator that Daredevil will be in hard-hitting, bone-crunching form next time out. "The crew is crushing it, and the action is nonstop," producer Sana Amanat told Marvel's official website. "The backdrop is a little different. It’s still New York, but it’s a slightly different kind of New York. I’m very excited about the material we’ve been getting. I’ve been fangirling all week. We shot a really big sequence with Wilson Fisk this week, and I felt like a kid in a candy shop."

In an interview with GamesRadar+, Vanessa actor Ayelet Zurer teased that the second season would be "even more exciting and crazy." Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter's verdict? "Oh, it's gritty."

It's also taking a step back in time, with Charlie Cox teasing a flashback to 2015 (around the time Matt Murdock first donned the Daredevil suit). "Me and another character did a flashback scene. But we're flashing back to 2015 when we started the show. So I'm going back to a scene that I did shoot myself. Makes me feel pretty old," Cox told On the Red Carpet. Could this be the first signs of a Foggy flashback?

When can we expect a Daredevil: Born Again season 2 trailer?

As cameras have only just finished rolling, we shouldn't expect a Daredevil: Born Again season 2 trailer anytime soon. However, we predict a small behind-closed-doors teaser could be shown at D23 in August. The public will likely get their first glimpse far later, potentially in the opening weeks of 2026 – which would match the first season's marketing rollout.

Will Daredevil: Born Again cross over into Avengers: Doomsday or Spider-Man 4?

It's a good question – and something Kingpin actor Vincent D'Onofrio has at least partially addressed in a recent interview.

"The only thing I know is not positive. It's a very hard thing to do, for Marvel to use my character. It's a very hard thing to do, because of ownership and stuff," D'Onofrio said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast when the topic of Kingpin appearing in MCU movies or Spider-Man 4 was approached.

He continued, "Right now, I’m only usable for television series. Different kinds of series, whatever it is, but not even a one-off Fisk movie or anything like that, it’s all caught up in rights and stuff. I don’t know when that would work out, or if it ever would work out at all, actually."

So, Kingpin might not be able to appear in Spider-Man 4, but Daredevil is (presumably) fair game having been part of the Spider-Man: No Way Home cast. Daredevil could also appear as part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast, but he wasn't part of its epic chairgeddon five-hour reveal.
