The Los Angeles Lakers are already in the honeymoon stages of their season, even though the regular season is still over two weeks away from actually starting. Anthony Davis’ Lakers debut left the team and fans feeling energized about the team’s outlook, but he wasn’t the only newcomer who Lakers fans got an extended look at on Saturday. Danny Green, their biggest acquisition aside from Davis, had a quiet but solid game in his Lakers debut.
Green connected on two 3-pointers created off of assists from LeBron, including this one where he floated to the corner to get a wide open look. In fact, all of Green’s points in the preseason game came off of assists from LeBron, as he went 2-5 from 3. He also had a couple of other looks that didn’t go, which is unremarkable, but what was interesting is what he said about how open he was.
If Green shoots the way he did in preseason, that would be more than fine for the Lakers who didn’t have any regular rotation players who shot 40 percent or better from the 3-point line. Although Green himself doesn’t do too much, he’s very good at the things he does do well and shooting is one of his strengths. It shouldn’t take much adjustment for him to excel in the role the Lakers are asking him to fill.
