Danny Dyer claims royal family tree connection to Edward III as he meets 'cousin' Prince Charles

In scenes not dissimilar from an episode of EastEnders, Danny Dyer dropped a bombshell on Prince Charles by revealing he is a long lost relative.

The duo enjoyed an unlikely ‘family reunion’ after the actor introduced himself to “cousin Charlie” months after discovering he has royal blood, having traced his family tree back to Edward III on Who Do You Think You Are?

Dyer met the future monarch at The Princes’ Trust Awards on Wednesday night and made sure to make him aware of his royal lineage.

“I’m in EastEnders,” he said. “Just wanted to let you know we’re related as well. King Edward III is my… my grandfather – but I won’t go into it.”

Sensing the royal was taken aback by his surprise claims, Dyer continued: “No he is, on my life.”

He later addressed it for a second time on stage, telling the audience: “When your cousin Charlie makes the call you’ve got to help your family out you know what I mean.”

Charles sounded more dubious about their supposed royal connections and joked that he will conduct his own research.

“I’ve discovered a long lost relation in Daniel Dyer,” he told the audience. “He told me he was descended from Edward III which was interesting so I must do some research when I go back from here.”

Dyer previously made a play for Buckingham Palace after learning of his royal lineage.

“If I iron out about 150 people, yeah I’ll be f****** King,” he said on an episode of Celebrity Juice.

“If Trump can run America I can be f****** King surely?”

The soap star also recently found out he has connections to Louis IX of France.

Speaking ahead of his series Danny Dyer’s Right Royal Family, which saw him live like his ancestors, he said: “I’m still in shock at the fact that I’m related to such important people. I’ve had a ball getting to know them. It was a nutty experience.”
