Danny Baker back on BBC after being sacked for 'racist' tweet about Meghan Markle's baby

Danny Baker makes his BBC comeback tomorrow night, two weeks after a “racist” tweet got him fired.

Baker, 61, hosts People’s History of Pop on BBC4, a repeat first shown in 2016.

Baker looks at music from 1966 to 1976, “the years of his youth”, from The Beatles’ Sgt Pepper to the birth of the “large-scale music festival”.

He was sacked by Radio 5 Live on May 9 after tweeting a photo of a couple with a chimp in a suit, captioned: “ Royal baby leaves hospital.”

It was three days after the birth of Prince Harry and Meghan’s son, Archie.

Strictly judge Oti Mabuse dubbed the tweet “absolutely disgusting”.

The BBC has been approached for comment.
