Danilo Gallinari received an appendectomy Saturday

Prior to the 2019 FIBA World Cup, Danilo Gallinari — one of several pieces the Oklahoma City Thunder acquired in the trade which sent Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers — underwent an appendectomy.

The Italian Basketball Federation (FIP) released a statement on the matter, stating Gallinari’s surgery on Saturday was successful.

The Thunder’s new forward is expected to sit out for a few days, then undergo minor rehab:

His conditions will be monitored daily by the national medical staff at the gathering in Verona.

Gallinari is still expected to play for Italy in the 2019 FIBA World Cup later this month and into September.
