Daniel Suarez to make first NASCAR Truck start in five years at Bristol

Spire Motorsports has announced Daniel Suarez as the driver of the team's No. 71 Chevrolet Silverado next weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway. Freeway Insurance will fund the effort.

Suarez is a winner at all three national levels of the sport, including the Truck Series. He has 28 Truck starts, but none since 2021. In those 28 previous starts, he has 10 top fives, 16 top tens, a pole, and a win.

That victory came at Phoenix in 2016 while driving for Kyle Busch Motorsports, which was later sold to Spire, so this is a bit of a full circle moment for the Mexican-born racer.

Spire has ten wins since forming a Truck team, and Busch himself is responsible for four of them. William Byron, Kyle Larson, Carson Hocevar, and Rajah Caruth have also earned NCTS wins with the team.

Suarez joined Spire's Cup program ahead of the 2026 season after five seasons with Trackhouse Racing, and he's off to a solid start. Suarez is 16th in points with one top five and two top tens through the opening seven races.
