Daniel Levy's role in ensuring that Jose Mourinho arrived at Spurs with 'high expectations'

Jose Mourinho has now been in the Tottenham hotseat for three weeks following his appointment as head coach in place of Mauricio Pochettino.

Apart from last week's 2-1 defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford, it has been a very good start for the experienced boss in north London.

Starting off with a 3-2 win over West Ham, the Lilywhites have also recorded victories over Olympiacos, Bournemouth and Burnley.

In 14th and a huge 12 points off the top four prior to his arrival at the club, Spurs are now six points behind Chelsea in fourth after three defeats in four games for Frank Lampard's side.

Tottenham train ahead of Bayern Munich

Speaking to BT Sport about his first three weeks at the helm and this evening's Champions League encounter against Bayern Munich, Mourinho opened up on his meetings with Daniel Levy and how the chairman created "high expectations" for him.

"Not really," he said when asked if anything has surprised him in his short time at the club. "I would be surprised if I wouldn't have had a couple of meetings with Mr Levy and I go without any feeling about the structure of the club, then I would be surprised.

"But the way his vision, his project was presented to me, he created high expectations and then when I walked into the club, the stadium and training ground it was not a surprise, but confirmation of how fantastic the club is."

Mourinho was linked with the Bayern Munich hotseat following Niko Kovac's dismissal but all talk stopped when he replaced Pochettino at Spurs.

Asked about talk of him taking charge of the German giants, he claimed that he didn't have to think much having spoken to Levy about the Spurs project.

"I don't know, I really don't know," he said on the links with Bayern. "I only know that the moment I met Mr Levy and the Tottenham project was on the table I didn't think much and I got it.

"I am very happy that I got it."
