Daniel Levy explains why Tottenham don't need to match Manchester United and Man City spending

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has opened up on his side's transfer approach amid increased spending by rival clubs.

Reigning Premier League champions Manchester City have spent £81m this summer, while Manchester United have already paid out £64.8m.

Spurs are not far behind United having spent around £63.9m and they are also eyeing up a big-money move for Paulo Dybala from Juventus.

Speaking at the club's new kit deal press conference, Levy explained that the club do not feel pressure to spend big after two windows without signing players.

"If I’m honest, we don’t feel the pressure. Our view is wherever we can we will improve the team," Levy told Football London.

"We have embarked in recent years on two very major capital projects, which I think in the long term will be of great benefit to the club. We will continue wherever we can to improve the team."

Spurs new kit deal is worth £40m and Levy is excited about where the club is heading.

"I'd like to think we're going in a very positive direction and we will continue to do our very best to continue to grow," Levy added.

"As I said before we've now met the priority of building the stadium and our training facilities and now it's to continue to find ways to not only improve the commercial aspects of the club but also the football and continue to be a success."
