Dani Ceballos makes Arsenal vow after memorable home debut vs Burnley

Arsenal new boy Dani Ceballos labelled his first start "one of the most special days of his life" after playing a starring role in their 2-1 win over Burnley .

The Spaniard provided two assists in a stunning display which ended with him receiving a standing ovation as he was replaced in the closing stages.

Ceballos, on a season-long loan from Real Madrid , has now vowed to "give a lot of joy" to the club as he looks to repay the confidence shown in him by new manager Unai Emery.

He has already proved a big hit with supporters in north London, who believe he can become a crucial figure of Emery's new-look side.

“I really want this year to truly demonstrate the football that I have inside,” Ceballos told the club’s official website.

“I have a lot of enthusiasm for this season and to be able to give a lot of joy to this club. The confidence they have in me, I want to return it to them with my performances.

“The most important thing in football is to win.

“When you have a great game and can help the team to get the victory, you feel satisfaction to know that you’re going home calmly and with the work done.

“The truth is that for me it has been one of the most special days of my life. I think that by starting at home with a win, and with this passion shown at the end of the match, I think it will be hard for me to forget this day.”

Former Arsenal favourite Robin van Persie heaped praise on Ceballos after the game.

"Ceballos was the best player on the pitch by a mile,” Van Persie told BT Sport. "He was always creating something, I really enjoyed watching him.

"He runs a lot. He ran the most of any player on the pitch. That tells you that he’s alive.

"He’s a very positive player who is clearly having fun and every first touch was forwards.”
