Following her Golden Globes nomination for Normal People, Daisy said it was one of the "biggest privileges" of her life to have worked with the Irish star.

The British actress, 22, was nominated by the Hollywood Foreign Press in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television category for her role as Marianne in the popular Irish drama.

“I feel so lucky to have been given the opportunity to play a character as complex, spiky, deep and wonderful as Marianne.

Paying tribute to her co-star Paul, who missed out on a nod for his role as Connell, the actress added: “It’s also been one of the biggest privileges of my life to have worked across from Paul Mescal.

“I was blown away every day by his generosity and incredible talent.

“What a team we are, I’m so proud of the NP family, soon we will have shots of celebratory baby Guinness’ and I can’t wait!”

The breakout star went on to wish the Maynooth man belated birthday wishes after he turned 25 this week, and shared a never before seen behind the scenes clip of them filming.

Paul replied to her words of praise saying: “You’re the best Daisy”.

The Kildare native also congratulated his co-star on his own account, saying: “Could not be prouder of you my friend.”

Meanwhile, Paul's proud mammy Dearbhla also reached out to congratulate the star saying: "We are beyond delighted here for you.... So richly deserved... Huge love and virtual hugs winging from here to there."

Paul's sister Nell added: "Buzzing for you Daisy."

Daisy will go up against Cate Blanchett (Mrs. America), Shira Haas (Unorthodox), Nicole Kidman (The Undoing), and Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit) in the coveted awards.

Normal People, which is shortlisted in the Best Limited Series or TV Film category will also go up against stiff competition, in The Queen’s Gambit, Small Axe, The Undoing, and Unorthodox.

The ceremony will be broadcast from New York and Los Angeles on February 28th, hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
