Daddy Pig breaks down in tears during Good Morning Britain interview about baby Evie

The hysteria around Peppa Pig’s baby sister Evie continues – as Daddy Pig broke down in tears during an interview.

The family appeared on Good Morning Britain on a FaceTime call on Thursday morning, which descended into chaos at one point as Peppa tried to operate the call.

There has been a PR storm around the family – as last week baby Evie was born at London’s Lindo Wing. the same luxury maternity ward where the Princess of Wales gave birth to Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

Speaking about George, 2, and Peppa, 4, meeting Evie, Mummy Pig said: “Oh, they could hardly contain themselves.

“But they were so gentle and sweet too. Evie did a little laugh when she saw them, didn’t she? Daddy Pig?”

And that’s when Daddy Pig burst in to tears: “How could I forget? Sorry, that’s me. Off again.”

Mummy Pig added: “It’s been quite an emotional week!”

“It’s been a long, tiring and completely amazing few days,” Daddy Pig added.

“Everything went well, and Mummy Pig has been incredible. Peppa and George were so excited to meet their new little sister. We’re excited to meet her too.”

Mummy Pig also revealed that Evie was named after her great aunt.

“Peppa had more than a few ideas for a while, she just wanted to call her baby forever,” she added. “But we’ve decided to name her after my great aunt Evie.”

Evie is the first new addition to the animated family since Peppa’s younger brother George was introduced 20 years ago.

“I don't think either of us ever had a specific plan – but we just got to that place where timing felt right,” Mummy Pig told Hello about adding to their brood.

Daddy Pig agreed, adding: “And everything fell into place. We're very lucky to be able to grow our family.”

The birth follows weeks of carefully orchestrated build-up, beginning with Mummy Pig’s surprise pregnancy revelation live on GMB back in February.

The excitement reached fever pitch last month during a pink-themed gender reveal celebration at London’s Battersea Power Station, where the famous chimneys lit up in honour of the new baby girl.
