Dad admits Gumtree dispute killing

A Melbourne man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter over an alleged Gumtree sale dispute. (AAP)

A Melbourne father has admitted killing a man over an alleged Gumtree deal gone wrong.

Tony Panagiotou, 59, admitted the killing of 44-year-old Duane Hutchings in Doncaster East in February 2019.

Panagiotou had been due to stand trial for murder but pleaded guilty in Victoria's Supreme Court on Tuesday to manslaughter.

He's set to face a pre-sentence hearing on December 20.

Mr Hutchings, a father-of-five, died in hospital after he was confronted by Panagiotou and shot with a sawn-off shotgun.

Several other men were also charged over the confrontation, including Panagiotou's sons John and George.

It's previously been alleged the group assaulted Mr Hutchings after sound equipment hired from John Panagiotou's business was advertised for sale on online trading site Gumtree.
