A cyclist is in a “life-threatening” condition after a crash involving a lorry at Hyde Park Corner, police have said.
Metropolitan Police officers were called to reports of a collision near Grosvenor Place at around 4.30pm on Saturday.
A 34-year-old cyclist was treated by emergency services, including London’s Air Ambulance, before being taken to hospital.
He remains in a life-threatening condition.
The dual carriageway linking Hyde Park Corner with Victoria along the outskirts of Buckingham Palace was cordoned off for several hours as a result.
Investigations surrounding the collision are ongoing, with the Met Police appealing for anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
A Met spokesperson said: “Police were called at 16:34hrs on Saturday, 23 May to Grosvenor Place, SW1 following reports of a collision involving a lorry and a cyclist.
“Police and emergency services, including the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance (HEMS), attended and the cyclist, a 34-year-old man, was taken to a nearby hospital.
“The driver stopped at the scene and is assisting police with enquiries.”
It is understood that the collision took place at a corner where cars merge from the Hyde Park Corner roundabout into a dual carriageway, where there is no cycle lane.
Hyde Park Corner was named by the London Cycling Campaign as one of the most dangerous junctions for cyclists in London.
