Current, former Giants mourn passing of Jared Lorenzen

The New York Giants organization was shocked on Wednesday with the passing of retired quarterback Jared Lorenzen, who was just 38 years old.

Lorenzen, a member of the magical Super Bowl XLII team that beat the previously undefeated New England Patriots, died after a six-day battle with an infection and other health-related issues.

The surprising death was met with sadness, mourning and prayers from current and former members of the team.

“Never forget coming to the sideline giving this dude a massive high five after making “the Catch.” Great guy, better teammate! Prayers up for J-Lo and his beautiful family. RIP,” David Tyree wrote in a Facebook post.

In addition to current and former members of the Giants, others around the league and the NCAA world mourned the loss and celebrated the life of Lorenzen.
