CSI pictured combing the scene after reports boy stabbed in Bolton house

Forensic officers have been pictured looking for clues after reports a boy was stabbed at a home in Bolton.

A huge cordon was put up on Bridgeman Street, Great Lever following the alleged attack on Saturday.

An air ambulance and several police vehicles were scrambled to the scene.

Unconfirmed reports suggested one person has been stabbed.

A spokeswoman for North West Ambulance Service said crews attended the scene, treated one patient and took a child under the age of ten to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. They confirmed the child was ‘alert’ when they attended.

Two witnesses who were returning to their nearby home from a day out in Manchester said they arrived back to find five to six ambulances and six to seven police cars on Saturday afternoon.

Police dogs were later spotted on the street.

At around 6pm a 4x4, believed to be an unmarked police car, was seen speeding off from the cordon with its lights flashing.

Crime scene investigators were pictured in a front garden, while another forensic officer was seen inspecting the pavement outside.

A concerned neighbour said: “It’s such a quiet street, I came outside and there was a helicopter overhead. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Another resident added: “I came out of the house and there was a helicopter circling for quite a while. We don’t know if the boy is ok and that’s really worrying.”

The boy’s next door neighbour told the Manchester Evening News: “He’s just a normal, happy little boy. I can’t believe this has happened."

Local resident Emma Collins said: “They’re such a quiet family, I don’t think the kids really play out. Just a really nice family.”

The cordon was lifted at 6.30pm.

It is unclear at this stage whether any arrests have been made.

Greater Manchester Police has been contacted for comment.
