Crystal Palace Women's manager scoops monthly award after impressive Championship form

Crystal Palace Women's boss Dean Davenport has won the Women's Championship Manager of the Month award for November.

The Eagles have enjoyed an impressive run in the league and won each of their three Championship matches during the last month, beating league-leaders Durham 3-1 at home as well as overcoming both Charlton and Blackburn Rovers 2-1.

Davenport's side are currently on a six-game unbeaten run in the Championship, which puts them third in the table after 10 matches played - one point behind London City in second and five behind leaders Liverpool.

“Firstly I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the League Managers' Association for being voted," said the 47-year-old, who has been coaching at Crystal Palace for 17 years.

"I'm privileged to accept this award on behalf of all the staff at CPFC Women. It’s important to me that everybody gets the recognition for all the hard work put in on and off the pitch.

“Everything we achieve is as a group and is a big team effort. The preparation and information for games by the coaching staff, the players, all the way to the day-to-day running of the club by the general manager [Paula Johnson]. It takes a lot of effort so as a group it's imperative everybody supports everybody.

"Big credit must of course go to the players who have performed fantastically well week in and week out to give ourselves the opportunity to be in the position we are at present. The confidence is up, and the current performances are a credit to them."

Davenport's side will be back in action this Sunday (December 12) when they travel to face Bridgwater United in the FA Women's Cup Third Round. Kick-off is at 2pm.
