Crystal Palace vs Chelsea LIVE
Liam Rosenior secured a statement victory as Chelsea romped to a 3-0 defeat of ten-man Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. The Blues were rocked in the buildup to the match by the news of Cole Palmer’s latest injury setback and subsequently were slow to start, with Jean-Philippe Mateta squandering a one-on-one in the early stages. But Estevao pounced on a poor backpass and streaked away from Tyrick Mitchell to open the scoring against the run of play moments before half-time.
Moments after the break, Joao Pedro made it two, latching onto a sweet chipped pass from his countryman Estevao before cutting in and firing through the legs of Dean Henderson. After Jaydee Canvot’s handball, which denied Pedro a brace, Enzo Fernandez scored from the spot to put Chelsea three to the good. Palace’s misery was then compounded as Adam Wharton, imperious in the middle of the park, was shown two yellow cards for a pair of near-identical late tackles on Moises Caicedo.
There would be no clean sheet, though, as Chris Richards headed home from close range in the late stages to give the hosts some consolation. Catch up with the action as it happened below with Standard Sport’s dedicated match blog, complete with expert insight and analysis from Dom Smith at Selhurst Park.

Crystal Palace 0-3 Chelsea
15:24 , Arthur Ferridge66mins: Borna Sosa and Yeremy Pino are on for Palace, replacing Mitchell and Canvot.
Dom Smith at Selhurst Park
15:23 , Arthur FerridgeI think Palace fans will understandably feel every conceivable refereeing decision has gone against them today, but it is also true that Chelsea are deservedly going to win this game. It's a fine win early in his tenure for Rosenior.
GOAL! Crystal Palace 0-3 Chelsea | Fernandez '64 (P)
15:22 , Arthur FerridgeFernandez makes no mistake from the spot! He leaves Henderson rooted.
Canvot is booked for his handball, which was deemed accidental.
PENALTY! Crystal Palace 0-2 Chelsea

Crystal Palace 0-2 Chelsea
15:19 , Arthur Ferridge61mins: In fairness, this is a very close call. Could go either way.
Dom Smith at Selhurst Park
15:18 , Arthur FerridgeIt's obviously a handball to prevent a goal but it's also arguably in a natural position. Let's see what the referee Darren England concludes.
Crystal Palace 0-2 Chelsea
15:18 , Arthur Ferridge60mins: VAR are checking! Our referee is off to the monitor. This must be a penalty for Chelsea...
Crystal Palace 0-2 Chelsea
15:17 , Arthur Ferridge59mins: Big shouts for handball! Joao Pedro’s shot is blocked by Canvot at close range. Surely VAR takes a look at this...
Crystal Palace 0-2 Chelsea
15:16 , Arthur Ferridge57mins: Double save from Henderson! He gets down well to deny an Estevao curler, and is quick back to his feet to deny Cucurella’s rebound. Impressive stuff from the Briton.
Crystal Palace 0-2 Chelsea
15:14 , Arthur Ferridge55mins: Sanchez does well to claim a Palace corner, but Lerma body-checks him as he looks to line up a throw. In fairness, it seems accidental, but Sanchez will need to jog it off.
Crystal Palace 0-2 Chelsea
15:10 , Arthur Ferridge53mins: Richards clatters Estevao out of play and the Brazilian is left down in a heap, but the referee and assistant both say ‘no foul’. He gets back to his feet.
Dom Smith at Selhurst Park
15:09 , Arthur FerridgeJust the start to the second half Chelsea wanted, as Joao Pedro cuts in and fires through Dean Henderson and in for a 2-0 lead. Excellent counter-attacking goal. Chelsea are in dreamland here.
GOAL! Crystal Palace 0-2 Chelsea | Joao Pedro '50
15:08 , Arthur FerridgeChelsea’s lead is doubled! Estevao turns provider to play his countryman in behind. Pedro does brilliantly to cut in and smash his finish beyond Henderson.
Crystal Palace 0-1 Chelsea

Crystal Palace 0-1 Chelsea
15:05 , Arthur Ferridge47mins: Chelsea landing the first blows of the half as both full-backs, Cucurella and James, tease crosses into the box. Munoz heads the second away for a corner.
2ND HALF: Crystal Palace 0-1 Chelsea
15:03 , Arthur FerridgeBack underway at Selhurst Park!
H/T: Crystal Palace 0-1 Chelsea
14:48 , Arthur FerridgeThat does it for the first half! Chelsea are in front, though it can be debated as to whether it is a deserved lead.
They won’t mind though, Estevao especially. All to play for in the second half.
Crystal Palace 0-1 Chelsea
14:46 , Arthur Ferridge45mins: There will be two added minutes to end the first half.
Dom Smith at Selhurst Park
14:45 , Arthur FerridgeShould he pass there, Estevao? I'm not so sure, although Joao Pedro seems to think so, having run half the length of the pitch to join in his counter-attack. Chelsea playing well and possessing a threat on the breakaway right now, mostly through the Brazilian teenager.
Crystal Palace 0-1 Chelsea
14:44 , Arthur Ferridge43mins: Estevao gets free again and makes another lovely run into the box, but this time he shoots wide.
Crystal Palace 0-1 Chelsea
14:41 , Arthur Ferridge41mins: Sarr slips Munoz in behind but Badiashile gets in the way of his cross.
Crystal Palace 0-1 Chelsea
14:38 , Arthur Ferridge37mins: Chelsea taking the lead has only invigorated Palace. They are still on top and stepping on the gas now.
Dom Smith at Selhurst Park
14:36 , Arthur FerridgeChelsea lead against the run of play, given the past ten minutes, and it's such a howler from Palace. Estevao so pacey when running through and so composed to fire Chelsea ahead.
Crystal Palace 0-1 Chelsea
14:36 , Arthur Ferridge35mins: Lovely goal from Estevao, but Glasner looks furious. That is very much against the run of play.
GOAL! Crystal Palace 0-1 Chelsea | Estevao '34
14:35 , Arthur FerridgeEstevao opens the scoring! He latches onto a loose back pass and streaks away from Mitchell, finishing coolly past Henderson. What a goal!
Crystal Palace 0-0 Chelsea
14:33 , Arthur Ferridge33mins: Caicedo, on a booking, is penalised for a late tackle on Sarr. The Ecuadorian is on thin ice.
Crystal Palace 0-0 Chelsea
14:32 , Arthur Ferridge32mins: According to Sky Sports, Brennan Johnson has had just eight touches of the ball so far this afternoon. An anonymous first half from Palace’s record signing.
Crystal Palace 0-0 Chelsea
14:31 , Arthur Ferridge30mins: Mateta heads wide from close range.
Half an hour gone and you must say it is far from vintage stuff from Chelsea. Were Palace more clinical, they could be three clear by now - with Mateta on a hat-trick!
Crystal Palace 0-0 Chelsea
14:29 , Arthur Ferridge28mins: Clumsy defending from Chelsea as James flicks a long throw on into the six-yard box. Sarr is first to it but shoots wide.
Crystal Palace 0-0 Chelsea
14:26 , Arthur Ferridge26mins: Lerma and Fernandez get a joint telling off from the referee for some off-the-ball argy-bargy.
Crystal Palace 0-0 Chelsea
14:25 , Arthur Ferridge25mins: Lacroix does well to dispossess Neto in front of the Holmesdale end and makes sure to whip up the fans as he gets back into position.
Crystal Palace 0-0 Chelsea
14:25 , Arthur Ferridge24mins: Wharton attempts a cross-field ball to Mitchell, but overhits it slightly and gives the visitors a goal kick.
Crystal Palace 0-0 Chelsea
14:22 , Arthur Ferridge22mins: Cucurella looks to play a cross-field ball to Estevao, but Canvot cuts it out. Chelsea’s young Brazilian has not played much of a role so far.
Crystal Palace 0-0 Chelsea
14:21 , Arthur Ferridge21mins: Caicedo is booked for catching Wharton late.
Crystal Palace 0-0 Chelsea
14:21 , Arthur Ferridge20mins: Munoz beats Cucurella with a tidy flick which draws ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ from the home support. Cucurella recovers to win the ball back and play Neto in behind, but the Portuguese is then dispossessed by Wharton.
Crystal Palace 0-0 Chelsea
14:18 , Arthur Ferridge18mins: Santos makes a wonderful block to block a dangerous Munoz cross.
Crystal Palace 0-0 Chelsea
14:18 , Arthur Ferridge17mins: Less than 20 minutes on the clock and Benoit Badiashile has been booked for time wasting. He’s having a nightmare afternoon thus far.
Dom Smith at Selhurst Park
14:17 , Arthur FerridgeCaicedo absolutely hammered that. He's gaining a reputation for doing that! Chelsea knocking on the door, but not intently yet. It remains a quite subdued match in the most part.
Crystal Palace 0-0 Chelsea
14:17 , Arthur Ferridge16mins: Neto is the latest Chelsea player to flash a cross into the box. This one falls to Caicedo, who puts his foot through it from the edge of the box and misses narrowly wide.
Crystal Palace 0-0 Chelsea
14:14 , Arthur Ferridge13mins: Fernandez fires over from around twelve yards out after Joao Pedro knocked down Cucurella’s cross. Huge chance.
Crystal Palace 0-0 Chelsea
14:12 , Arthur Ferridge12mins: Chelsea take three corners in quick succession. All go to the front post, and all are cleared without much consternation from Palace.
Dom Smith at Selhurst Park
14:10 , Arthur FerridgeSlow start to this game, but Andrey Santos and Moises Caicedo are beginning to see more of the ball in midfield as Chelsea establish a bit of consisten possession here. Then after losing the ball, Mateta is away and can punish Chelsea but is denied by a fabulous save from Sanchez.
Crystal Palace 0-0 Chelsea
14:09 , Arthur Ferridge8mins: HUGE SAVE! Badiashile loses the ball at the back under pressure from Sarr who plays Mateta in behind, but the Frenchman cannot punish his countryman. Huge wake-up call for the Blues.
Crystal Palace 0-0 Chelsea
14:06 , Arthur Ferridge6mins: Caicedo wins the ball on the edge of the Palace box but Fernandez loses it as he looks to break into the box. Palace counter apace and Mateta sees a shot blocked down the far end.
Crystal Palace 0-0 Chelsea
14:04 , Arthur Ferridge4mins: Wharton is already dictating the play for Palace, who have settled into a nice spell of possession.
Crystal Palace 0-0 Chelsea
14:02 , Arthur Ferridge2mins: Chalobah bundles the corner wide at the front post.
Crystal Palace 0-0 Chelsea
14:02 , Arthur Ferridge1min: A lively start from the Blues as Cucurella flashes down the left flank and dishes a ball over to Estevao. The Brazilian finds Fernandez, whose shot goes behind for a corner.

13:22 , Arthur Ferridge“Unfortunately for us, Cole is not quite right for this one. I’ve said before in press conferences, we want to make sure very player is at 100 per cent. He’s got a little niggle and it is fine, he is not quite 100 per cent, but he’s got a chance for Wednesday. Hopefully, he is back for that.”

Cole Palmer latest from Dom Smith
13:13 , Arthur FerridgeCole Palmer misses out today with the same thigh injury which kept him out against Pafos.
He has trained the last two days, but the trip to south-east London came a day too soon for the forward.
It is hoped he can feature at Napoli on Wednesday.

Dom Smith at Selhurst Park
13:08 , Arthur FerridgePalmer's absence is a blow for Chelsea, of course, but it is clear medical advice is being followed to the letter and that the Englishman is just not in a position to be pushed through pain or risked unnecessarily with so much of the season left. Enzo Fernandez, who takes his place as the No10, is a fully capable of deputising well.
Mateta IN
13:05 , Arthur FerridgeJean-Philippe Mateta is in the side for Crystal Palace today.
Rumours had circulated that he could be left out amid reports he is looking to leave Selhurst Park this month, but he starts up top regardless.
Chelsea team news
12:58 , Arthur FerridgeThe big news of the day is that Cole Palmer misses out for Chelsea after he sat out the Pafos match with an injury in midweek.
Alejandro Garnacho is dropped after struggling against Pafos.
Jorgensen is not involved after he was also injured against Pafos, with Teddy Sharman-Lowe, recently recalled from a loan to Bolton Wanderers, making the bench in his place as Robert Sanchez starts.
Josh Acheampong is also on the bench having been linked with a move to Palace in recent weeks.
Estevao starts on the wing.

Around the grounds: Premier League and WSL action abound
12:15 , Arthur FerridgeThere’s an awful lot of football on the cards today! A super Sunday indeed...
Two matches kick off simultaneously with Crystal Palace vs Chelsea as Brentford host Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa visit Newcastle.
And, later in the day, the small matter of Arsenal vs Man United, which you can follow live with Standard Sport!
And, in the WSL, Manchester City have the chance to pull nine points clear of title holders Chelsea as they face London City Lionesses at Hayes Lane in Bromley.
Crystal Palace vs Chelsea preview: How can Palmer find form again?
12:07 , Arthur FerridgeBy the time Liam Rosenior first walked through the door at Chelsea, finding the formula for getting the best out of Cole Palmer had already shot up to the very top of his to-do list, writes Standard Sport’s Dom Smith.
Getting Chelsea’s most talented player back playing at the levels he reached in his first 18 months at Stamford Bridge was always going to be a high priority for whoever was chosen to replace Enzo Maresca in the dugout.
Palmer’s two-goal match-winning performance in July’s Club World Cup final trouncing of Paris Saint-Germain was a sensational solo display of his rare quality, but Maresca never did manage to get the best out of the Englishman.
Rosenior’s mission to resurrect the Palmer of 2023-24 under Mauricio Pochettino is now underway but faced a new obstacle this week with rumours of a move to Manchester United, the club Palmer supported as a child, spreading like wildfire after reports he is homesick in London, having grown up in Manchester and been bred in the academy of Manchester City.

Standard Sport prediction: Away win
11:58 , Arthur FerridgeWhen the two sides met on the opening weekend of the season, Palace were buzzing with optimism and were well worth a point. However, much has changed since with both Guehi and Eberechi Eze departing, in addition to Glasner and Mateta wanting out.
Given all the uncertainty surrounding the club and their wretched form at present, Chelsea will be kicking themselves if they fail to leave south London with all three points.
Chelsea to win, 3-0.
Chelsea early team news: Palmer in?
11:50 , Arthur FerridgeRobert Sanchez is poised to return in goal for Chelsea after Filip Jorgensen suffered an injury that forced him off against Pafos in midweek.
The Blues, however, should have Cole Palmer back after he missed the Champions League win as a precaution, while Reece James’ substitution was as a result of managing his minutes rather than injury-related.
Tosin Adarabioyo is set for a period on the sidelines after sustaining a hamstring injury in the win over Brentford.
It was confirmed this week that Dario Essugo had faced another injury setback after falling awkwardly in training, while Romeo Lavia and Levi Colwill also remain absent.

Crystal Palace early team news: Who replaces Guehi?
11:42 , Arthur FerridgeJefferson Lerma is expected to continue in the back three for Palace, having filled in there last week against Sunderland when Guehi was waiting to finalise his move to Man City.
In a massive boost for the hosts, Ismaila Sarr is available for selection after successfully helping Senegal claim their second Africa Cup of Nations title.
He is set for an immediate recall to a front-line which may not include Mateta after his request to leave before the January transfer window closes.
