Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
17:12Well, where do we even start! An absolutely insane game has finally come to an end, and many would’ve wanted it to carry on for another 100 minutes. The points are shared after an affair that could’ve been mistaken for a Basketball game with how end-to-end it turned out to be. The match started quickly, and it was Bournemouth who struck first through Kroupi when he nodded in at the back post, following a deflection off a Palace body. He then followed up his first by adding his, and Bournemouth’s second in the 38th minute, where he latched onto an oncoming ball inside the box and smashed a right-footed shot beyond Henderson, despite him getting a hand to the shot. At half-time, the score was 2-0 to Bournemouth, but the warning signs were there after Palace missed multiple huge chances in the first period. The game shifted in the 64th minute, when Mateta finally put one of his chances away, following a trademark low cross from Munoz on the right. Only five minutes later, Mateta added another one which was nearly a carbon copy of his first. Munoz shot towards goal, and via a Petrovic save, the ball fell to the Frenchman at the back post, who rolled the ball over the line to make the scoreline 2-2. The madness wasn’t anywhere near done yet, when in the 89th minute Christie was on hand to tap in from close-range, making the away end go into frenzy, thinking they had won the game. But still, this is the Premier League, and anything can happen. Palace weren’t left licking their wounds, and instead, went down the other end and were awarded a penalty. Guehi was dragged down inside the box during a corner, and Mateta completed his hat-trick from the spot, sending Petrovic the wrong way and rolling his shot into the left corner to make it even again at 3-3. There was still time for another twist, when Mateta had an opportunity in the 99th minute to win the game for Palace, but sent his shot agonisingly over the bar. It ended 3-3 in the end, with Palace creating a whopping 4.25 xG, eclipsing Bournemouth’s 2.03 xG. That was a game for the ages, and everyone involved will need a lie down now! Thank you for joining this live commentary, goodbye!
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
17:00FULL-TIME: CRYSTAL PALACE 3-3 BOURNEMOUTH
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
17:00WHAT A MISSSS!!!! OH MY WORDDD!!!! MATETA MISSES IN THE 99TH MINUTE! Nketiah cut the ball back to him inside the box for his easiest chance of the game, and he was all alone but sent his shot into row Z. What a mad, mad ending!
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
17:00This has been one of the most incredible games in recent memory. The entire game has been full throttle, and it has continued until the very last moments here!
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:59GOOOOOOOOOALLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!! MATETA EQUALISES TO COMPLETE A HAT-TRICK! IT’S 3-3! He rolled his penalty into the bottom left corner, sending Petrovic the wrong way! This is insanity, and we still have two minutes to play.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:56The penalty STANDS! What drama! The VAR have said the foul stands late on here, and Mateta will take the spot kick.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:56OH MY WORD IT’S A PENALTY! PALACE HAVE A PENALTY! Guehi was pulled down in the box by Diakite during a corner kick, and there was no hesitation from the referee to point to the spot! Wow, VAR are checking this.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:54Palace have a shot blocked on the line, by what looks to be one of their own players! There’s only a couple of minutes left here.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:54Nketiah had a half-chance as he burst into the box, but he saw his left-footed shot blocked straight away by Senesi. This is a really scrappy ending to this game.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:52Tavernier is taken off, after assisting what looks to be the winner late on. He has been great throughout this game, so he deserved a goal contribution. He is replaced by Cook.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:52There will be EIGHT added minutes!
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:50Christie is booked for a needless foul in midfield, maybe he can blame it on the adrenaline from the goal!
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:50It’s the skipper, Tavernier who gets the assist after a fantastic cut back from the left byline, to give Christie the simplest of tap-ins.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:49GOOOOOOOALLLLLL!!!!!!! BOURNEMOUTH HAVE DONE IT, IT’S 3-2! Christie has knocked the ball into the back of the from the centre of the six-yard box after a brilliant cut back from Tavernier. That will break Crystal Palace hearts late on here. There was always going to be one more chance! 3-2 to Bournemouth.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:48A rallying cry has arisen from the Holmesdale end, as they look to carry their team through the end of this game, as Palace continue to search for a winner. There is likely to be around eight minutes of added time.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:47Crystal Palace’s xG (2.75) is nearly double Bournemouth’s, showing just how dominant they have been in this second half. It was nowhere near their counterparts’ in the first half!
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:46CLOSE! Nketiah slid in at the back post after a searching Mitchell cross evaded him by inches. It is almost certain that there will be another big chance for either side before this game is up. This has been great entertainment.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:44Munoz does really well at the near post to stop a certain Bournemouth goal, with Gannon-Doak lurking at the back post. Semenyo’s cross was stopped just in the nick of time by the Colombian.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:44We’re into the final 10 minutes of the game now, with the certainty of a large amount of added time to come. Can either side win it late on?
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:39Palace have been a completely different side in this second half, they have looked energetic, controlled, and clinical, which is the complete opposite of the first half.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:38OFFSIDE! Palace thought they had gone ahead!! Nketiah has the ball in the net and Selhurst Park erupted, only for their celebrations to be cut short by another offside flag. Unfortunately for them, this time it will remain as offside. Nketiah was a few yards out there.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:36Lastly, Kluivert is hooked and replaced by Gannon-Doak, another attacking change for the away side. Kluivert has had a quiet game by his standards.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:35The second change sees Kroupi being replaced by Adli, with Andoni Iraola looking to freshen up his attack for the closing stages. Kroupi has been brilliant, doing his part in this game to help his side with two goals.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:35Here come the changes for Bournemouth. First up is Jimenez coming off to be replaced by Hill at right back. Jimenez has had a good game, all things considered, but his afternoon is over.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:34Sarr goes down again under the challenge of Senesi, this time it’s closer to the goal, but the referee says no! That’s a big call.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:34Bournemouth are readying a triple change in response to conceding those two quick goals.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:32Well well well, what a chaotic closing 20 minutes we have on our hands here. This has been a fantastic response to going two behind from Oliver Glasner’s team.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:30GOOOOALLLL!!!! MATETA SCORES AGAIN! IT’S 2-2! Petrovic palms Munoz’s shot away to his right, and Mateta is there to slide in at the back post to score two goals in five minutes! What a turnaround this is! 2-2!
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:29Alex Scott is taken off after a quiet performance in a deeper role here. He is replaced by Christie to try and hold this lead.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:29The assist goes to Munoz after a fantastic low and powerful cross from the right was converted by Mateta. He is such an asset for the Eagles and he’s proved it again!
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:26GOOO-NO! Mateta slams the ball in the back of the net after a brilliant cross by Munoz, but the offside flag is up right away to deny Palace’s first goal of the game! VAR is checking. It’s the initial ball into Mateta, at the start of the move, that is being checked. If he is offside here, it will be by millimetres; it is very tight.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:29GOAL! The goal from Mateta stands, after VAR judged him to be onside in the build-up to the finish. Game on, it’s still 2-1 to Bournemouth!
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:23Here’s the first change for Palace. Pino is taken off after blasting a shot over the bar from long range, which was his last contribution to the game. He is replaced by Nketiah.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:23Pino is booked for a foul on Jimenez after he tugged him back in the Bournemouth half. That is a frustrated foul.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:22CHANCE! Semenyo had a chance there to kill the game after another misplaced pass by Palace, specifically Kamada. The ball was played to him on the edge of the box, but he sent the effort high over the bar with a lot of power.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:21Wharton rarely misplaces a pass, but his most recent effort towards Sarr went straight out of play, to his annoyance. It’s been that kind of day for the Palace players.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:21Bournemouth have been uplifted by that relief of the VAR decision, and they are going forward again. They had their fifth corner of the game, and it was cleared messily by Palace.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:21That check took a whole four minutes to happen, meaning whatever happens in this second half will be delayed by a large chunk of added time at the end of the 90 minutes.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:15YELLOW CARD! Senesi brings down Sarr, and he’s nowhere near the ball, after he appeared to be through on goal, but he is only given a yellow for now. The VAR is checking this one.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:20NO RED CARD! Senesi is spared his blushes after it was deemed that Sarr was moving wide towards the goal, rather than straight towards it, meaning there wasn’t a denial of a goalscoring opportunity.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:13The VAR is continuing to check this one, and it is a very split decision. An on-field review will take place.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:11Oliver Glasner is looking very frustrated down on the touchline, as Mateta blasts a long-range shot far over the bar after hitting it on the half volley. That is such a wasteful attempt from someone who has missed a plethora of chances already.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:11Palace have opened this half with more sloppy passing in their backline, something that they needed to cut out in the first half! It gives Bournemouth the idea that they are nervous or tired.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
16:06KICK-OFF! The second period of this game has begun, and Bournemouth will be looking for a straightforward second half!
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:59Looking to the second half, Palace need to be putting their chances away, should they want to have a hope in this game. Their finishing, along with their overall buildup, has been poor, and that shows on the scoreline. This game could easily have been level if they had put their couple of big chances in the net. For Bournemouth, it will be more of the same in the second half, and their main focus will be defending their lead, rather than going for more goals. Andoni Iraola will be pleased, but he knows the job isn’t finished… yet.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:56We’re 45 minutes deep into this game, and Bournemouth have a healthy 2-0 lead away from home. The game started very quickly, a trend that continued throughout the half, with Bournemouth opening the scoring as the clock ticked over to the seventh minute. He was on hand at the back post to nod in with ease after a cross was deflected by a Palace player, and into his path. That made it 1-0 to the away side, but the game continued in an even and quick fashion. Mateta missed a golden opportunity to bring the score level in the 28th minute, putting his header wide from close range, and he was made to pay 10 minutes later. Kroupi was on hand once again to slam home from inside the box, putting his powerful effort past Henderson and into the bottom right corner. That made the score 2-0, and other than another big chance missed by Mateta on the stroke of half-time, Bournemouth have come out of the first period unscathed. Let’s see what the second half brings.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:52HALF-TIME: CRYSTAL PALACE 0-2 BOURNEMOUTH
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:52HUGE CHANCE! Another chance goes begging for Mateta, and he has to be putting these away! Guehi played him in behind from the edge of the box, and on his left foot, Mateta tried scooping the ball across Petrovic, but he was denied!
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:51There will be two added minutes.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:46Kamada has been poor in this first half, often slowing Palace attacks down by taking one too many touches when a pass has been on, or failing to deliver an accurate ball into the box. The same can be said for most of the Palace team, to be fair.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:45Less than five minutes to go until the break, and Bournemouth have a strong 2-0 lead! The last time Palace got anything from a game when they were two goals down was 13 months ago!
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:41Adams is the second Bournemouth player to be booked inside this first half, and it was for a late challenge that the referee pulled him up on.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:40GOOOOALLLL! IT’S TWO! Bournemouth double their lead with less than 10 minutes to go before half-time! Kroupi was on hand inside the box to smash home past Henderson into his bottom right corner. Sensational work by Semenyo beforehand to get in behind before crossing into the box! 2-0 to Bournemouth!
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:38This has been a breathless first half so far, and it is rather surprising that there has only been one goal. Both sides could have scored a couple already!
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:38The passing in the backline of Palace leaves a lot to be desired, and that has been the case for the entirety of this game so far. They need to tighten that up first, before they can think about scoring a goal.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:36Palace have grown into this half as it’s gone on, and they have learnt how to beat the Bournemouth press on multiple occasions. Most of the play has been in their opposition's half in the last 10 minutes.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:32There’s some bustling and barging going on inside the Bournemouth box as we await a Palace corner to be taken. The delay was nearly two minutes long before the kick was eventually taken.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:30MISSED! Wow… what a chance! Pino sent in an inch-perfect cross towards the head of Mateta at the back post, and the Frenchman rose above his man to get a header off, but missed the target entirely! That should have been 1-1!
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:29SAVED! Semenyo did so well to latch onto a long ball from the right, bring the ball down, and then drop Richards to the ground. He then got the shot away from the left side of the box, but Henderson was equal to it and palmed it to the side.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:27Bournemouth are top of the league, as things stand. There’s a sentence you never thought you would read! The away fans in the ground are making that fact known, albeit it rather quietly.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:25Mitchell did really well on the edge of the box to feint past his man and get a shot away, which was rather tame and straight at Petrovic. He should have dealt with the shot better, as the ball was dropped, and could’ve caused more danger than it did.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:23This is the most energetic opening 20 minutes of football you’ll ever see. Both sides have gone hammer and tong so far, and it looks unlikely that this will stay at 1-0.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:21Sarr does really well in midfield to win the ball back twice after losing it, and then bursts past his man. He got brought down, but no foul was given, and the referee waved play on. The intensity of this game has been incredible!
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:20Semenyo goes down inside the box, under the challenge of Richards, and it did look like the American had a hold of him, but the referee is unmoved, and the game continues.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:20Everything by the home side looks shaky at the moment; they can’t seem to string any meaningful passes together, and that is causing them to move backwards when they have the ball.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:16Palace look very loose as Lacroix misplaces a simple pass out from the back, and it led to a shot from Scott, which luckily for them went just over the bar!
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:13Bournemouth have a record of W3, D1, L0 when scoring the opening goal in the Premier League this season, and the last time they failed to win when scoring first was back in March this year against Brentford!
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:10That goal is the first time Palace have gone behind this season, and also the first goal they have conceded inside the first half this season! What a start!
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:10GOOOOALLL!!! Bournemouth lead, and Kroupi has scored on his full Premier League debut to make it 1-0! The ball was whipped in with pace, and a Palace body inside the box directs the ball onto the head of Kroupi at the back post for the simplest of nods into the back of the net. 1-0 Bournemouth!
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:10Mateta gets the first shot on target of the game as he blasts a low and tame shot towards Petrovic’s goal on the break. No danger, though, and Bournemouth regain possession.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:07It’s the away side that have enjoyed more possession in the opening exchanges, but neither side have produced anything of note yet.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:04We have our first booking within two minutes, and it goes the way of Semenyo! He tugged Sarr back as Palace looked to work the ball out of their half. Very silly from Bournemouth’s main man.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:02We’re in London for matchday eight, and it’s Crystal Palace who are playing hosts to fellow high-flyers, Bournemouth. The last two times that these two faced each other, both of the fixtures ended in goalless draws, so everyone will be hoping for a different fate with an entertaining affair here. Crystal Palace have the slight upper hand over Bournemouth in the head-to-head numbers, winning five of the last 10 meetings. In years prior, this would have been a mid-to-bottom-of-the-table slugfest, but both teams have had a rejuvenation of late, and this now looks like a brilliant fixture on paper. Let’s hope that comes to fruition.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:02KICK-OFF! Jarred Gillett blows his whistle for the first time here, and the game is up and running!
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
15:02The teams are out on the pitch, and we’re nearly ready for kick-off here in London!
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
14:52Team news now, or rather no team news if you look at the home side, as Oliver Glasner names an unchanged side from the team that faced and lost against Everton. Mateta scored his first goal for the French national side during the international break, and he hopes that it can spark his league form back into life. He starts up top for Palace, and Guehi, who has been confirmed to be leaving Palace at the end of the season, captains the side. For Bournemouth, their starting side today features three changes from their last game against Fulham. Jimenez, Kroupi and Kluivert come in for David Brooks, Hill and Evanilson. Semenyo’s blistering form at the start of the season has been key for the away side, and he starts in attack again, hoping to be the difference maker once more. Tavernier captains the Cherries.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth

Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
14:41Bournemouth have enjoyed their start to the season, as they sit fourth in the table heading into this weekend’s action. Having beaten Tottenham and Brighton already, and earning a hard-fought point against Newcastle, they have effectively performed against teams traditionally better than them, and comfortably won against teams they ‘should’ beat. Their last match saw them beat Fulham 3-1, catapulting them into the top four of the table. This match will be a good litmus test as to whether they mean business or if it’s just an early burst of form as the season gets into full swing.
Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth
14:41Crystal Palace come into this game on the back of their first competitive loss in 19 games, when they lost 2-1 to Everton, despite being ahead and squandering multiple big chances. Daniel Munoz’s goal in the first half was meaningless after Iliman Ndiaye and Jack Grealish scored to break the Eagles’ hearts. Still, spirits are high around the London club, with manager Oliver Glasner hinting that there may be a possibility of a new contract for the man who brought Palace their first-ever major trophy in May. They will look to return to winning ways after the international break, against a team against which they historically fare well.
