Crystal Palace team news as Tyrick Mitchell and Ebere Eze start, Gary Cahill on the bench

Roy Hodgson has made a number of changes from Crystal Palace's FA Cup defeat to Wolves last Friday, as the team reverts to something akin to the win over Sheffield United.

Vicente Guaita starts in goal, as expected, while Joel Ward is at right-back alongside James Tomkins and Cheikhou Kouyate at centre-back.

Tyrick Mitchell is back in on the left side of defence with Patrick van Aanholt on the bench once more, and the young defender will be joined on the left flank by Ebere Eze, who Roy Hodgson confirmed would not be dropped as punishment for breaching Covid protocols by attending QPR's FA Cup clash against Fulham at the weekend.

Andros Townsend starts on the right side of midfield, with Luka Milivojevic and James McArthur back in the side after being rested for the trip to Molineux.

And Wilfried Zaha starts up front alongside Christian Benteke, hoping to prove to the Gunners once more why Unai Emery was so keen to sign him.

Hodgson revealed ahead of the game that Mamadou Sakho is still undergoing analysis on the thigh injury picked up against Wolves amid reports that he could be missing for months.

Jeff Schlupp, meanwhile, is also among the absentees as his recovery from a hamstring problem suffered against Sheffield United continues.

"We're still looking into the extent of [Sakho's] injury," Hodgson told reporters. "There will be a few more MRI scans necessary before we know exactly how bad that was.

"But certainly it's an injury that will keep him out of the game on Thursday and even the one on the weekend.

"The other injured players: Jeff Schlupp everyone now knows about. And then of course we have the ones who have been injured for a period of time, ones like Hennessey, Wickham and Ferguson.

"But otherwise, Gary Cahill is back in training, so we're happy with that. Basically with the team we've been playing, it'll be Jeffrey Schlupp and Mamadou Sakho."

Crystal Palace XI: Guaita; Ward, Tomkins, Kouyate, Mitchell; Townsend, Milivojevic, McArthur, Eze; Benteke, Zaha.

Subs: Butland, Dann, Cahill, Clyne, Van Aanholt, McCarthy, Riedewald, Ayew, Batshuayi.

Arsenal XI : Leno; Bellerin, Holding, Luiz, Maitland-Niles, Ceballos, Xhaka, Smith-Rowe, Saka, Aubameyang, Lacazette.

Subs : Runarsson, Gabriel, Cedric, Chambers, Willock, Partey, Willian, Pepe, Nketiah.
