Crystal Palace legend has a message for Aaron Wan-Bissaka amid interest from Manchester United

Aaron Wan-Bissaka could learn from the example of former Crystal Palace defender Nathaniel Clyne amid speculation over his future.

That's the view of former Palace winger and first team coach John Salako, who has spoken about Wan-Bissaka's future, with Manchester United the latest club to be linked with a move for the 21-year-old this summer.

Wan-Bissaka has attracted plenty of interest since breaking into the Palace team last year, with top clubs in England and Germany said to be among the interested parties.

But Salako had a message for the Palace academy product, who impressed again as the Eagles lost out 2-0 against Tottenham last night (Wednesday).

"I can remember talking to Nathaniel [Clyne]. He was level-headed," Salako told Talksport.

"You know, you say to your youngsters, play your 90, 100 games, learn your job, learn your trade. And then he [Clyne] went to Southampton, he moved to Liverpool, he's played for England. Unfortunately he's had injuries.

"But Aaron [Wan-Bissaka] hasn't played. He's come on leaps and bounds and if he moves he's going to be under massive pressure. Do you remember when Wilfried [Zaha] went to [Manchester] United? He was too young, too early, didn't settle in.

"He's got that massive pressure week in, week out and he has to step up another level or two."

Crystal Palace's early player of the year, goal of the season, most improved player and more

Meanwhile, Salako said he felt that the 21-year-old was worth more than United full-back Luke Shaw in the transfer market, should Palace even consider selling the academy product.

And he said Zaha was worth more than that, with reports of interest in the Ivory Coast international as well.

"I would say probably £40million [for Wan-Bissaka]," he said.

What Roy Hodgson has said about Wilfried Zaha & Aaron Wan-Bissaka amid interest from Man United

"I mean Luke Shaw came in at United for £30million, so £35million to £40million for a fledgling, young lad who has only had one season, that would be big money.

"For Wilfried [Zaha], probably more like £50million to £60million."
