Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson sends message about Premier League that will delight Liverpool

Crystal Palace manager roy Hodgson has said that every measure possible should be taken in order to complete the 2019/20 Premier League season.

There has been no football for over a month after the coronavirus pandemic bought a temporary hold to matches, with the Eagles sat in 11th place in the table and looking set for a mid-table finish.

Hodgson’s former team Liverpool are runaway leaders during the campaign and were a matter of wins away from sealing their first ever Premier League title.

However, the possibility of the Reds lifting the trophy has been put into doubt by the outbreak.

In a message to fans on Crystal Palace’s official website, Hodgson has insisted that all games should be completed if possible.

“Everyone is in total agreement we need an end to this season,” he said.

“We don’t want artificial means of deciding who wins the league, who gets into the Champions League, who gets relegated and promoted.

Premier League players could isolate together to complete season

“Ideally our players would have three or four weeks’ minimum to prepare for the first match back, but I accept there may have to be a squeeze on that timeframe.

“It might mean extra restrictions at our place of work - the training ground - for example. It may also mean that we have to play our nine remaining matches in a shorter period of time than we normally would have done, and subsequently receive a shorter break between the seasons.

“But I think with all of these sacrifices – and I am uncomfortable using that word in such a context - everyone will be more than happy to go along with what it takes in order to get playing again as soon as possible in order to get the season finished.”

As reported by football.london one possibility to finish the season is the remaining games to be played behind closed doors over a four to six week period over the summer months.

Hodgson was in charge of Liverpool for 18-months between July 2010 and January 2011.
