Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson not worried about losing Wilfried Zaha in the January transfer window

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson says he has not given a single thought to the chance of losing Wilfried Zaha in the January window following his failed move to Everton on deadline day.

The 26-year-old, who came off the bench during the opening day goalless draw against the club he had hoped to sign for , was given a superb reception from the Palace fans despite having handed in a transfer request in an attempt to force through a move.

Since the close of the English window, London rivals Chelsea have already been linked with a January move should they be able to overturn their transfer ban, while many will maintain interest in the Ivory Coast international.

"I don't worry about January, it's August for goodness sake," Hodgson said. "I don't even know what we're doing in September! I don't give January a thought. I'll worry about January on December 31.

"We have options and if we show the same determination. It was a proper Crystal Palace performance. We did not allow the odds to damage our chances in this game."

Zaha is not yet up to full fitness having only returned to Palace training on Monday, before being sent home from the club's south London base on Thursday due to his situation.

Hodgson, though, was encouraged by his cameo.

"He did well, set us up for a chance that could have won us the game," Hodgson said. "He's a little bit rusty, when a player comes back from three weeks away he's going to end a bit of time to find his true form. He's phenomenal when it comes to fitness, but to find the form it will take a week or two. He almost helped us take three points."
