'Cry Macho': Clint Eastwood's contemporary western touches on modern masculinity

ENCORE! © FRANCE 24

At 91 years old, actor and director Clint Eastwood is still bringing his quiet intensity to the big screen, in stories that explore the dustier corners of the American experience. Film critic Lisa Nesselson tells us why there is plenty to like – but not necessarily love – in his latest film, "Cry Macho".

We also discuss the three stories and three architectural levels at play in Nanni Moretti's "Tre Piani", as the Italian filmmaker adapts an Israeli novel for his most recent feature.

Plus, French filmmaker Pierre Filmon zooms in on a brief, romantic encounter in Paris as a couple kill time between trains, and we take a look at a festival that sums up the state of the world in a series of cinematic snapshots.
