Criticism over 'disgusting' fly tipping in Nottingham

A Nottingham city councillor has slammed fly tippers who dumped piles of rubbish in Forest Fields.

Berridge ward councillor Toby Neal said the council will endeavour to find out who has left the piles of bin bags and furniture.

He said: "It has been better over the last few months but it has always been an ongoing problem.

"It's really selfish behaviour. Everything is stretched at the moment and people are having a tough time.

"People want their neighbourhoods to look clean and tidy. It is the height of self-centeredness to do this, it is very un-neighbourly."

Councillor Neal said a van goes around the area every day removing waste from the streets.

He added: "When it gets reported workers do go through it and look for clues as to who it is, so we can issue Fixed Penalty Notice(s) up to £300.

"It doesn't solve the problem though. The bulky waste service is still working, yes there is a bit of a delay but it is no excuse to dump rubbish on the street. It's disgusting."

A tweet with pictures of the rubbish said: "Why do folk still think this is ok, a blight on our neighbourhoods and wildlife, @MyNottingham have a free bulky waste service which you can call or book online and yes it's still FREE."
