Cristiano Ronaldo status as Man Utd gym king put under threat by new teammate

Cristiano Ronaldo is at risk of losing his status as the gym king at Manchester United following the arrival of Casemiro from Real Madrid.

The Portuguese superstar has been regarded as the 'strong man' at the Red Devils since his return to the club from Juventus last summer and is reportedly capable of leg pressing up to 250kg.

But Ronaldo, who is known for banging out 30 reps at a time, is being forced to "up his game", with Casemiro showing him up in the gym with the ability to leg press closer to 300kg. The Brazilian is said to be impressing his new teammates with his feats of strength.

Having made the big-money move to Old Trafford in August, the 30-year-old has shocked them with his ability to beat Ronaldo, his former Real Madrid teammate, on the leg press.

A source at the club told Daily Star: "Ronny takes a lot of pride in his fitness and how muscular his legs are - few get consistently near the amount and weight he can load up. He’s not one for bench pressing, Ronny is a legs man, but it seems he may have met his match with Casemiro – he's not the biggest guy in the world but he's as strong as an ox and can push 300kg with his eyes shut."

Whilst Ronaldo has become known for his physical ability, Casemiro also built a reputation for his fitness and strength at Real Madrid and would regularly test himself against his teammates. However, former Los Blancos doctor Jesus Olmo actually revealed that Gareth Bale is the best athlete he has seen at the club - rather than both Casemiro or Ronaldo.

The Welshman joined Los Blancos in a deal worth around £85million from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013 becoming the world record transfer at the time, ahead of Ronaldo. Bale, who penned a six-year deal in the Spanish capital, saw his record broken by Paul Pogba following his £89m switch to Manchester United in 2016.

Having worked with Bale, Olmo has opened up on how the Wales international could excel in any sport and admitted he is impressive in almost every aspect. It has been widely reported about how much Bale loves golf, after spending plenty of time on the golf course over the past couple of years.

The ex-Los Blancos doctor told Ideal in 2020: "Perhaps the best athlete I've ever seen is Bale. Gareth Bale is a natural athlete who can excel in practically any sport. He has incredible athletic skills, and I would also say technical skills. He is the one who impressed me most in all aspects."
