Cristiano Ronaldo promises to clarify Manchester United future with interview about transfer reports

Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo has claimed the 'truth' about his future will emerge in the coming weeks.

Ronaldo, 37, expressed his desire to leave United at the start of July. Ronaldo was absent for the club's tour of Thailand and Australia due to personal reasons and he reported to Carrington just 13 days before United's opening Premier League game.

The forward did not start against Brighton on the opening day, but he did make Erik ten Hag's starting lineup at the weekend against Brentford. United were defeated 4-0 on Saturday evening and Ronaldo was helpless as his side were humiliated.

United will play Europa League football this season and Ronaldo wants to play in the Champions League, which is a competition he is synonymous with. The transfer window closes in just over two weeks and Ronaldo's future is still surrounded by uncertainty.

However, Ronaldo has now taken to social media to explain that the 'truth' about reports this summer will soon emerge. Ronaldo responded to a post on Instagram that quoted journalist and friend Edu Aguirre on Tuesday night with the comment.

The post with a quote from his friend Aguirre read: "I really want Cristiano to leave Manchester because the current scenario in this team is very bad for him, but if he stays, I will cheer fervently to make everything go well as always.

"Until the 31st, the fans will be for him to go to a better team and that can happen, let's wait."

Ronaldo responded in Portuguese: "They know the truth when they interview in a couple of weeks. The media is telling lies. I have a notebook and in the last few months of the 100 news I made, only 5 were right. Imagine how it is. Stick with that tip."

The transfer window closes on Thursday, September 1.
