Cristiano Ronaldo Jr copies dad's signature celebration after scoring for Man Utd

Cristiano Ronaldo Jr copied his dad's signature celebration after scoring for Manchester United under-12s.

The 11-year-old's goal put the Red Devils 5-0 up against EF Girones Sabat during a youth tournament in Spain, latching onto the end of a low-driven free-kick to get on the scoresheet. Wheeling away in jubilation, the No.24 leapt in the air in an ode to his father as his teammates shouted 'siu' to accompany the iconic celebration.

Cristiano Jr has only been on the club's books since February but is now enjoying a tour with United's academy on the Costa Brava. The Mediterranean Internet Cup plays host to talented youngsters every Easter, with Ronaldo's son becoming the latest starlet to showcase his skills and goalscoring ability.

Clearly possessing an eye for goal like his dad, Cristiano Jr's latest strike comes just over a fortnight since he netted against West Bromwich Albion, playing alongside none other than Wayne Rooney 's son, Kai, who bagged a goal himself and is making his name on the academy scene, too.

Cristiano Jr is also attempting to live up to his father's name, a five-time Ballon d'Or winner. "We'll see if my son will become a great footballer," Ronaldo commented when asked about his son's chances of making it. "He has potential. He is fast and dribbles well, but that is not enough.

"I always tell him that it takes work and dedication to have success. I won’t pressure him to become a footballer, but if you ask me if I want him to, yes I would like it. The most important thing is to become the best at whatever he does, whether it is as a footballer or a doctor."

Cristiano Jr first trained with the Red Devils back in September, shortly after his dad's sensational homecoming transfer from Juventus was completed. However, it would take a few months for the youngster to officially sign for the Red Devils and get going in United colours.

While the Ronaldo clan were still living in Turin, his father revealed: "I hope that Cris, my son, can be like his dad. He says he is going to be better [than me], but I think it's difficult. He is playing for Juventus and adapting really well, it has been easier for him than for me."

Youth teammate Kai Rooney has similarly high expectations in relation to his dad's legacy, although the current Derby County boss did not push him to sign for his former club in December 2020.

"He went on trial with Manchester United and he's impressed the coaches," Rooney explained. "He signed his forms yesterday so I'm delighted for him. He did have other options, other clubs to go to but he decided he wants to sign for Manchester United, so it was his decision and not mine."
