Cristiano Ronaldo coming to realisation over Man Utd future despite Chelsea interest

Cristiano Ronaldo is worried that his hopes of leaving Manchester United are fading after the club insisted that is not for sale amid interest from Chelsea, Napoli and PSG.

The Portuguese star wants to depart the Red Devils this summer after they failed to qualify for the Champions League. United finished with their lowest ever Premier League points tally last term, having accumulated just 58 from their 38 top-flight matches.

Ronaldo may have netted 24 goals in all competitions last season in a deeply dysfunctional team but he will celebrate his 38th birthday next season and can limit what United are capable of doing collectively. He is also the club's highest-earning player on around £480,000 per week.

Despite all that, Ronaldo is concerned that he will not be able to leave as United have doubled down on their stance that he is not for sale. That's according to the Daily Mail, who claim the Red Devils will also include images of the 37-year-old wearing their new kit when it is officially unveiled on Friday morning despite links he may be on his way out of Old Trafford.

The Red Devils travel out to Bangkok on Friday afternoon for their pre-season tour without Ronaldo after giving the player some more time off for family reasons. He was initially due back on Monday but has been granted the week off by the club and Ronaldo is now unlikely to feature in their first friendly against Liverpool on July 12.

Ronald has so far missed four days of training but is said to be unhappy over suggestions he has refused to turn up, considering he had the club's permission to stay in Lisbon with partner Georgina Rodriguez and his children. However, his continued absence has only fired up rumours he wants to leave the Red Devils with a number of clubs across Europe interested in signing him.

He is also surprised by the lack of movement in the transfer market with United making just one signing so far after Tyrell Malacia arrived from Feyenoord in a deal worth around £15m. Frenkie de Jong, Christian Eriksen, Antony and Lisandro Martinez have all been linked with moves to the Red Devils as Erik ten Hag tries to strengthen his squad ahead of their opening game of the season against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Rio Ferdinand understands why Ronaldo may want to leave in the transfer window. said on his FIVE YouTube Channel : "You're talking about Cristiano Ronaldo here! I don't understand how it's a big story that Cristiano Ronaldo is not happy with the way things are at Man United. He can't be. I wouldn't be.

"Anyone who wants to win football matches or trophies, anyone who is used to winning and competing every year at the top of the table for the biggest prizes, and then all of a sudden isn't - and doesn't even qualify for the Champions League - you can't sit here and expect them to be happy. Of course he's unhappy."
