Cristiano Ronaldo banished from squad as Man United back manager Erik ten Hag over star player

Cristiano Ronaldo will not train alongside the rest of the Manchester United squad, the club have confirmed.

The 37-year-old left Old Trafford before full-time in Wednesday’s Premier League win over Tottenham after reportedly failing to come on as a substitute.

Manager Erik ten Hag confirmed the matter would be dealt with ahead of Saturday’s trip to Chelsea, of which Ronaldo will play no part.

Ronaldo was keen to leave the club over the course of the summer but no move was forthcoming, leaving him in limbo.

With ten Hag looking to rebuild the squad, the former Ajax manager has limited Ronaldo to just two Premier League starts.

The former Real Madrid and Juventus forward has less than a year to run on the contract he signed in the summer of 2021.

“Cristiano Ronaldo will not be part of the Manchester United squad for this Saturday’s Premier League game against Chelsea,” read a statement.

“The rest of the squad is fully focused on preparing for that fixture.”
