Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez wedding date, venue revealed

Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez are reportedly set to marry this weekend in Madeira, Portugal. According to British media reports, the ceremony will take place on August 8 at the historic Funchal Cathedral, followed by a lavish reception at the five-star Savoy Palace Hotel. While neither Ronaldo nor Georgina has officially confirmed the wedding date or venue, the reports have sparked widespread interest among football fans and entertainment followers.

According to The Sun, the 41-year-old Al-Nassr superstar and his 32-year-old fiancée will exchange vows at Funchal Cathedral before hosting guests at the luxury Savoy Palace Hotel. Speculation intensified after hotel guests were informed that two floors and several bar areas would be closed on Friday and Saturday for a private event, suggesting preparations for a high-profile celebration with tight security.

The latest reports come after earlier speculation linked the wedding to the Quinta da Regaleira estate in Sintra. However, those rumours faded after it emerged that the popular tourist attraction would remain open to the public throughout the weekend.

Why Madeira is special for Cristiano Ronaldo

Madeira holds immense emotional significance for Ronaldo. Born and raised in Funchal, the Portuguese football legend began his journey on the island before leaving home at the age of 11 to join Sporting Lisbon's academy.

Today, Funchal celebrates its most famous son with a bronze statue, a museum dedicated to his career and a hotel that bears his name. Choosing his hometown for the wedding would mark a symbolic full-circle moment in Ronaldo's life after rising from humble beginnings to become one of football's greatest-ever players.

Hotel restrictions fuel wedding speculation

The reports gained further momentum after guests at the Savoy Palace Hotel were informed about temporary restrictions ahead of the weekend.

According to a source quoted by The Sun: "Hotel guests have been informed that two floors will not be available for use on Friday and Saturday, along with several areas designated for bars."

The restrictions have fuelled speculation that the luxury hotel is preparing to host one of the year's most high-profile celebrity weddings.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez relationship

Ronaldo and Georgina first met in 2016, and their relationship has since become one of football's most closely followed romances. The couple got engaged in August 2025, when Georgina shared a photograph wearing a large diamond ring.

Ronaldo later revealed that his daughters also played a role in his decision to propose. The couple are raising five children together.

Earlier Portuguese media reports had suggested that the pair planned to marry in Madeira after the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with Funchal Cathedral and a luxury hotel on the island emerging as the preferred venues.
