Cristian Stellini issues Clement Lenglet and Ben Davies injury update for Newcastle vs Tottenham

Cristian Stellini has confirmed that Ben Davies and Clement Lenglet have been involved in Tottenham training ahead of this weekend's game against Newcastle United. Spurs have been hit by a number of injuries of late, with Davies not featuring since the 3-3 draw against Southampton and Lenglet limping out of last Saturday's 3-2 defeat at home to Bournemouth.

Amid question marks over their fitness going into Sunday's trip to Champions League rivals Newcastle United, Spurs have received a boost on the injury front regarding the pair. Although Davies has been back in training, which is certainly welcome news going into the run-in, Stellini has admitted that the Wales international may not be ready to play just yet.

"We have Ben Davies back in training, in a part of training only so maybe not ready to play a match but we are close to recover Ben," explained Tottenham's acting head coach.

When asked by football.london about the fitness of Lenglet, who has been suffering with an inflammation under his foot, Stellini said that they are confident he can have a full training session with the group on Saturday.

So and so," said Stellini when asked about the player's fitness. "We are trying to have Lenglet 100 per cent. He train, he train with us, is not 100 per cent but we are confident Lenglet tomorrow can train for the full session. In this moment it is only a part but from tomorrow we are confident Lenglet is good."

He added: "It was an inflammation under his foot. It is painful, not a problem that can become bigger but we have to manage."
