Crimson Desert Patch 1.00.03 notes: 120Hz mode on consoles, More Abyss Nexuses, difficulty tuning, more

Crimson Desert Patch 1.00.03 fixes multiple early pain points while also making the game feel smoother across all platforms.

With this update on March 23 (March 22 in some places), the devs focused on three big areas, including early-game quality-of-life, combat and boss tuning, and performance tweaks across consoles and PC.

Fast travel is easier to access, and storage is available much earlier. On top of that, some of the tougher encounters have been made a bit easier, with better rewards for smart play. With that said, here’s a complete breakdown of Crimson Desert update 1.00.03 patch notes.

Full Crimson Desert Patch 1.00.03 notes

Fast travel, storage, and early-game QoL

Patch 1.00.03 makes the start of Crimson Desert more forgiving and less grindy by adding more Abyss Nexuses across Pywel, making teleport fast travel easier to unlock and use as you explore. Also, Private Storage is now available much earlier, starting at the first temporary lodgings in Hernand and at Howling Hill Camp.

Logging has been sped up, where trees require fewer hits than before, and you can now use basic swings without precisely lining up each hit. Several minigames have been made more forgiving, including arm wrestling when you’re pinned, Marksmanship, and the Archery Contest.

Food and ingredients restore more Health than before, and new dishes have been added to the Hernand Tavern to give you more sustainable options early.

Combat changes and boss tuning

Combat gets a noticeable tune-up in Patch 1.00.03. Some enemies and bosses now have reduced Health or lower attack. Stamina cost for blocking has been reduced, so defensive play and guarding feel less punishing over longer fights.

Successful parries now build up boss stun gauges more effectively. Specific encounters have been adjusted, including ambushes on the road to the Reed Devil and certain patterns used by Kearush the Slayer. Boss weaknesses will now display even if you haven’t unlocked the related knowledge yet.

Strongholds and world interaction tweaks

Strongholds and world systems also get some targeted changes. Destroying specific facilities in strongholds now has defined effects:

  • Infirmary: Wounded enemies no longer return to the fight
  • Storage: Enemy max HP is reduced by 10%
  • Barracks: Enemy attack power is reduced by 5

Bismuth ore has been reworked so that approaching it will petrify you by default, but you can now mine it with standard tools instead of needing Lightning damage.

Controls, keybinds, and UI improvements

Patch 1.00.03 also tightens up controls and interface behavior, especially for keyboard and mouse players. Interaction prompts, jumping, and general input responsiveness have been improved, so actions trigger more reliably.

Aiming behavior has been adjusted when using the Lantern or when unarmed. Mouse and keyboard now use more familiar default shortcuts:

  • Inventory: I
  • Skills: K
  • Journal: J
  • Map: M

Keyboard movement responsiveness has been tuned, and side mouse buttons now map more cleanly to actions like Guard or Aim and Evade. Quick-slot usability has improved, where reselecting the currently equipped weapon or tool now stows it, and food is auto-registered to a quick slot when you pick it up for the first time.

On the interface side, map destination markers that wouldn’t clear properly now remove as expected. Cursor handling in shop menus has been improved, and Homing Pigeon letters now display correctly in menus.

NPCs, minigames, and economy tweaks

This patch also tweaked NPC behavior and economy. Restorative items sold by Carl at Howling Hill Camp have been made significantly cheaper, dropping from 10 Silver to 1 Silver, while Animal behavior has been updated to look more natural.

Various NPC placements and behaviors have been fixed where they weren’t acting or standing as intended. Some English voice lines that previously failed to play properly now trigger as they should.

Graphics, performance, and 120 Hz mode

A 120 Hz option has been added for PS5 and Xbox, available in the Settings menu if your TV or monitor supports it. Several issues with graphics settings not saving correctly have been fixed, including resolution and upscaling options that would previously reset.

Visual issues on lower graphics settings, like invisible equipment and missing cat models, have been addressed. Problems with FSR and DLSS combined with ray tracing-like features have been cleaned up to reduce strange rendering artifacts.

Display cut-off and misalignment issues across different window modes have been fixed. Some MacBook setups will no longer default to Cinematic graphics by force, which should improve performance out of the box.

Certain crash cases tied to specific graphics presets have been resolved. GPU detection issues on systems with dual GPUs and on some Windows 10 builds have been addressed.

Platform-specific stability fixes

The patch notes also cover several platform-specific issues and general stability improvements.
PlayStation received the patch first, while Xbox, Epic Games Store, and Mac App Store versions will follow shortly.

Crashes that could occur when opening the Map on PS5 have been addressed. DualSense vibration issues on certain Windows setups have been corrected.
