'Criminal, disgrace, robbed' - Aston Villa fans rage at Jack Grealish dive decision vs Palace

Crystal Palace backed up their impressive win against Manchester United with victory over Aston Villa on Saturday.

Jordan Ayew scored the only goal of the game - their first home goal of the season.

And they did so against ten men too, with new signing Trezeguet sent off for the visitors in the second half.

But even a red card and a goal do not tell the whole story of the contest.

There was controversy right at the death at Selhurst Park when Aston Villa thought they had earned a point.

In the 96th minute Jack Grealish went on a forward run, before appearing to be clipped by Wilfried Zaha. Grealish carried on, stumbling, into the box, where he ran into Gary Cahill just as he played a path into the path of Henri Lansbury.

Grealish went to ground in the box, arms flailing, as Lansbury fired the ball past Vicente Guaita.

But referee Kevin Friend had blown his whistle and booked Grealish for diving, trying to win a penalty.

Grealish could not believe it as he remonstrated with the man in the middle, but the final whistle soon after ended any hopes of overturning the decision, which did not go to VAR.

And understandably, the Villa fans were not happy either.

It was quite the end to the game and we are sure to have not heard the last of it.
