Cribbs Causeway shop sign left 'dangling dangerously' following strong winds

A Cribbs Causeway shop sign was left "dangling dangerously" following strong winds last night (August 10).

Firefighters from Patchway fire station were called to Wren Kitchens in Lysander Road at around 8.30pm in the evening.

On arrival, they found a piece of metal, about two and a half metres in length, hanging 'dangerously' from the shop sign.

After requesting a turntable ladder, firefighters were able to remove the dangerous metal and make the area safe.

A spokesman for Avon Fire and Rescue said: "We were called out at around 8.24pm yesterday evening (August 10) and mobilised Patchway fire station to the incident.

"When they got there, they found that a piece of metal, which was two and a half metres in length, was hanging from the shop sign.

"Crews requested a turntable ladder and they removed the piece of metal before making the area safe."

The fire service added on Twitter: "Crews from Patchway are attending a property in Cribbs Causeway to make safe a sign that has been left dangling dangerously following strong winds."
