A fire has broke out at an industrial estate in Ayr with crews racing to the scene.
It is reported that a large amount of rubbish is on fire in an open area in Weir Road at 10.35am this morning.
Two fire engines and teams of firefighters rushed to the yard at Lowmac recycling centre.
Dramatic pictures show firefighters above the yard on aerial ladders trying to extinguish the flames.
Eyewitnesses have reported "thick black smoke" pluming from the site of the blaze near to Newton-on-Ayr train station.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 10.35am on Friday, November 5, to reports of a large amount of rubbish on fire in an open area in Weir Road, Ayr.

“Operations control has mobilised two fire engines to the scene and firefighters are currently extinguishing the fire. There are no reports on casualties."
